Recreation Manager
To exceed hotel/resort guest expectations and implement high-quality recreation activities/services, providing a safe environment for guests and associates in all areas of Social and Group Recreation.
Responsibilities
- Direct financial aspects of the hotel recreation department including budgeting, forecasting, and labor costs while increasing revenue, controlling expenses, and executing payroll.
- Oversee training of all associates on the social hotel recreation team.
- Establish administrative rules and regulations, policies, and procedures for the department.
- Develop long-range plans for the department by setting and meeting yearly and monthly goals and objectives.
- Lead staff department meetings, communicating pertinent information to associates, managers, and the director regarding department and guest satisfaction.
- Oversee and operate all social and group recreation programs and maintain recreation facilities.
- Monitor recreation areas and restrooms to ensure a clean and safe environment for hotel guests.
- Implement and coordinate corporate group events with conference services and conference sales managers.
- Oversee all aspects of Group Recreation, including booking procedures, representing the department professionally, acting as the point person for the group, planning and coordinating agendas and activities, and attending planning meetings.
- Supervise and develop Recreation Supervisor, Attendants, and Interns.
- Provide exceptional guest service.
- Ensure the Recreation facility is kept clean and properly maintained.
- Oversee team scheduling, payroll, recruiting, training, financials, MOS, inventories, ordering, safety procedures, and implementing Omni culture in Recreation Associates.
- Implement and facilitate Hotel Recreation activities, programs, and events.
Qualifications
- Must be an energetic, active, and creative individual able to speak in front of large groups and comfortable working with young children.
- Must work well under pressure and assure a safe environment.
- Must be able to maintain facilities, including cleaning of recreation areas, Information Desk, Pool Area, etc.
- Able to stoop, stand, push, pull, walk, or stand for long periods, and able to lift 30-50 lbs frequently (60-100 lbs occasionally).
- Degree in Recreation, Hospitality, or related field.
- At least 2 years of experience in a supervisory position.
- Able to become certified in basic CPR and First Aid.
- Basic computer skills for payroll, ordering, and other administrative work.
- Able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Able to push/pull towel bins weighing up to 300 pounds.
- Comfortable working in various weather conditions: extreme heat, cold, rain, sun, etc.
- Must be comfortable in and around pools.
