Job Title: Certified Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
Job Summary:
The Certified Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality diagnostic imaging procedures, including X-rays and other radiology exams. This role involves operating radiology equipment, ensuring accurate imaging for physicians to diagnose and monitor medical conditions. The technologist collaborates closely with healthcare teams, maintains patient safety, and ensures compliance with regulatory and institutional standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in radiology technology, clinical protocols, and equipment maintenance, as well as ARRT certification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Radiology Procedures:
- Operate radiology equipment to perform various diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Select appropriate techniques and settings based on patient needs and physician orders.
- Ensure accurate and high-quality diagnostic images through proper positioning and equipment adjustments.
- Patient Preparation and Care:
- Explain imaging procedures to patients, ensuring they are comfortable and informed.
- Position patients accurately for exams, minimizing discomfort while ensuring optimal imaging results.
- Monitor patient safety throughout procedures, addressing concerns or discomfort.
- Image Evaluation and Documentation:
- Review images for clarity, quality, and completeness, ensuring they meet diagnostic standards.
- Document all imaging details, patient information, and exam results in medical records accurately.
- Communicate abnormal findings to the physician or radiologist for further analysis.
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure timely and accurate diagnosis.
- Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and addressing concerns.
- Maintain fluency in English for clear communication and accurate documentation.
- Knowledge and Use of Radiology Equipment:
- Demonstrate proficiency in operating radiology equipment, including X-ray machines and related diagnostic tools.
- Maintain familiarity with the clinical relevance and operational characteristics of diagnostic machines and equipment.
- Conduct routine equipment checks and report issues for timely maintenance.
- Equipment Maintenance and Safety:
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of radiology equipment according to established protocols.
- Ensure compliance with infection control standards, maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Ensure equipment operates efficiently, reporting malfunctions to the technical support team.
- Continuous Education and Training:
- Stay updated on advancements in radiology technology, procedures, and best practices.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to maintain ARRT credentials and enhance technical skills.
- Attend workshops and training sessions as required.
- Compliance with Standards:
- Follow all applicable regulatory guidelines, including HIPAA, ensuring patient confidentiality at all times.
- Adhere to institutional policies regarding imaging, safety, and patient care.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education and Certification:
- Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited radiology program with a certificate or associate degree in Radiologic Technology.
- ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of two years of experience in radiology imaging within a healthcare system.
- Knowledge of radiology equipment operations, including X-ray machines and diagnostic imaging tools.
Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in operating radiology equipment and diagnostic software.
- In-depth understanding of human anatomy and physiology as it pertains to imaging.
- Ability to assess and ensure image quality for diagnostic accuracy.
