About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Medical Surgical (Med Surg) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-hour days, including every other weekend and first to float **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 2 years in Med Surg specialty and previous travel experience **License:** Required **Certifications:** Basic Life Support (BLS) and COVID Vaccine Certification **Must-Have:** - 2-3 years of experience in Med Surg specialty - Prior travel experience - Team player attitude **Job Description:** - 30-bed Med Surg unit focusing on medical patients and post-op/surgical patients - Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5 - Uses Cerner electronic medical record (EMR) system - Clinical supervisor available for break relief without patient assignment - On day shifts, two nurse aides assist; on night shifts, one nurse aide assists - Expectation to work four weekend shifts in a four-week schedule - Participation in permanent staff holiday rotation - Navy scrubs required - Portable tele box available with monitor tech; nurses must read and interpret; dysrhythmia exam required - No in-house hospitalist or intensivist; 24/7 hospitalist available - No on-site respiratory therapist around the clock - On-site 24/7 pharmacy service - Must be adaptable and willing to float within Med Surg and to Telemetry with a 1:4 ratio, if needed - One shift of floor-specific orientation provided - Be prepared for the hospital to potentially cancel shifts, with a policy allowing up to three cancellations per contract
