About The Position
**Job Title:** Registered Nurse (RN) **Job Specialty:** Emergency Room (ER) **Job Duration:** 13 weeks **Shift:** 12-hour day/evening midshift with start times at 11 AM or 12 PM; every other weekend rotation **Guaranteed Hours:** 36 hours per week **Experience:** Minimum of 3 years ER experience **License:** Illinois license required **Certifications:** - Basic Life Support (BLS) - Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) - Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS) - National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) **Must-Have:** Flexibility to rotating start times; moderate sedation experience; ability to read and interpret monitors **Job Description:** - Provide emergency care in a 24-bed Emergency Department treating 60-80 patients daily - Nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4-5, adjusted based on staffing and acuity - Care for a range of patients from neonates to geriatrics with various diagnoses including respiratory viruses, myocardial infarction, motor vehicle accidents, and more - Experience in handling moderate sedation and all critical care drips - Work collaboratively with emergency department physicians and mid-level providers - Support available from in-house security 24/7 - Engage with diverse patient demographics in a community hospital setting; manage patients for prolonged periods during inclement weather - Assist with EKGs, blood draws, wound care, transporting patients, and monitoring vital signs - Use the ESI rating system for triage within the department - Support staff includes ED techs (CNA/EMT/Paramedic), a care support secretary, and a patient care liaison - Orientation includes 2 shifts of 12-hour sessions - May float to other units such as Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, or ICU as needed - Adhere to department-specific orientation, work with HR to obtain badges, and follow professional appearance codes with solid color scrubs - No call or standby requirement, but potential floating to other units
