RENTAL DISTRICT OPERATIONS MANAGER at Carter machinery

Carter Machinery Company, the authorized Caterpillar dealer serving Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and Washington D.C. is hiring a Rental District Operations Manager in Salem, Virginia at our corporate headquarters. The Rental District Operations Manager position is responsible for managing and directing all Carter Rental Service store level operations (including rental counter and clean and inspect rental service operations) within an assigned district, working closely with the Rental Sales Manager(s), Rental Asset Manager and Rental Home Office Manager, and to achieve the goals and objectives established for the Rental Services Division in accordance with the policies of Carter Machinery Company, Inc. Seeking candidates with a minimum of three years Operations Management or rental equipment experience. Caterpillar, or related equipment industry, experience preferred. Bachelor's degree in Operations or a related field preferred.   

Requirements for the Rental District Operations Manager position include:

• Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.
• Must possess a strong business/financial acumen, and excellent negotiation skills.  
• Must be able to plan and organize functions and activities related to the procurement, maintenance, repair and disposal of rental equipment.
• Strong mechanical aptitude, technical knowledge and research skills.
• Excellent PC and the ability to self-develop and adapt to changing technology.
• Must be able to prepare and submit required equipment utilization and monitoring reports.
• Must be able to build strong internal and external relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be detail-oriented and able to handle multiple tasks at once.
• Strong organizational, planning and follow-up skills required.  

• Frequent travel is required – overnight or out of town via car or airplane.

• Must be able to handle large volumes of work in a fast-paced environment.

• Must be able to work shifts needed, including days, nights, and/or weekends to meet customer demands.

Physical requirements must be met for the Rental District Operations Manager job, including regularly being required to sit and talk or hear.  The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.  Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and ability to adjust focus.
