The Director Sales & Marketing is responsible for driving and exceeding topline revenue by executing sales strategy across the MICE segment and for the development and revenue growth of banquet and events through event planners, online agencies within key tourism markets throughout the US. The position requires a direct, determined, and decisive leader with a strong sense of urgency for achieving results.
This position will have a strategic focus on establishing key partnerships with local Convention & Visitor Bureaus/DMOs, hotels, non-competitive attractions, MICE Associations and transportation companies. The Sales & Marketing Director will be required to solicit new business via outbound cold calls, sales calls, and conduct business meetings at tradeshows, workshops, and seminars throughout the US. This role will partner with the regional and local sales and marketing teams across all cafes nationwide to generate awareness of HRC venues within the MICE sector and create a memorable experience for all clients. Will report directly to the SVP Sales and Marketing & Brand Partnerships on the creation, development, and cultivation of this new program and will share responsibility in deploying to all event sales associates companywide. Dotted line to Operations.This individual will be based out of the Corporate Office. The Sales & Marketing Director is a highly visible and complex role, since the candidate will be required to support, travel and work with all cafes, departments, and leadership team across the entire organization.
Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key customers and industry partners to drive banquet and events business traffic to the NA cafes.
- Setting sales goals and developing sales strategies for the entire NA Division
- Works to identify and prospect for future relationships in current and new market venue locations
- Target MICE accounts nationally with a key focus on driving incremental sales revenue during off-peak times of day, week and year and impacting multiple locations.
- Uses negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate national contracts.
- Developing and executing sales strategies to drive revenue growth and exceed sales targets in NA
- Evaluating and improving sales methods and procedures
- Overseeing and leading the S&M Regional Managers team in NA
- Oversee the Sales & Marketing Regionals in North America
- Providing sales team with direction, coaching, and development to maximize sales performance
- Identifying market trends and forecasting future sales
- Recruiting, hiring, training, and managing a national sales team
- Monitoring and analyzing sales data to understand performance.
- Ensuring customer complaints are handled appropriately and efficiently
- Preparing and delivering sales reports to senior management
- Partners with local and national Sales & Marketing team to determine needs in specific markets to best develop relationships and leads
- Create and maintain travel schedule of in market sales calls, event and tradeshow participation to build top of mind awareness of brand
- Support building Sales National Partnerships with SVP of Sales & Marketing – Identifies sales opportunities and takes action to build strategic relationships between one’s area and other areas, teams, departments, units, or organizations to help achieve business goals.
- Partner and collaborate with all event sales teams to offer national-level insight in order to maximize both service experience and revenue for cafes
- Strong ability to communicate and drive collaboration through the organization to facilitate accurately maintain and build database of sales clients in customer relationship management (CRM) system
- Customer Focus– Considers how actions or plans will affect sales clients; responds quickly to meet customer needs and resolve problems; implements ways to monitor and evaluate customer concerns, issues, satisfaction and to anticipate customer needs.
- Representing the company at industry sales events, trade shows, workshops and seminars.
- Holds leadership positions with pertinent networking groups and/or national organizations
- Coordinating with other departments to ensure alignment of company goals and operations.
- Leading and managing a team of sales professionals to meet performance goals.
- Implement Incentive and cross-promotional sales programs to optimize sales teams’ performance.
- Collaborating with internal teams to ensure successful implementation of sales initiatives.
- Responsible for development of Banquet & Events; program and on-going improvements based on market conditions.
- Generates innovative solutions to situations; trying different and novel ways to deal with problems and opportunities.
- Strategic sales thinking- Seeks innovative and imaginative ways of responding to organizational possibilities. Forecasts trends, aligns people and processes to organizational strategies, and remains focused on global objectives.
- Results Oriented, to understands Sales & Marketing objectives and ensures all programs drive to achieve those results. Evaluates activity on an ongoing basis to optimize and improve performance.

Qualifications
- 10+ years experience in hospitality management, including 3 years in a sales leadership role.
- Experience working in the MICE industry (B2B), including event planners.
- 5+ years Management experience, required.
- Undergraduate degree, preferred
Minimum Qualifications, Job Skills, Abilities
- Ability to manage projects with multiple tracks as a high-energy leader
- Ability to travel in excess of 50%
- Ability to develop clear action plans and drive processes with numerous interdependencies
- Some business analysis experience (including implementation, tracking, problem resolution and reporting) preferred
- A successful track record of working with managers and executives at high levels in the organization, as well as staff users
- Experience with management of employees a plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem solving skills, analytical capabilities, and collaboration skills
- Must have attention to detail, a commitment to quality and be results driven and Guest focused
- Meeting management and group process facilitation skills are required
