Job Title: Quality & Safety Manager

SUMMARY
Quality & Safety leader and champion. Internal voice of the customer. Self-motivated, relentless, results-driven, improvement engine. Finds, accumulates, and analyzes data and evidence, transforming these into actionable information, and acts on that information to drive quality and safety improvement. Analyzes and solves problems, issues, costs and other data, and applies statistical methods for process control, optimization, and safety. Is, or is willing to become, a certified Lean Six Master Black Belt.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

- Ingrains this culture into the team, the supply chain, processes, products, and services
- Is “cool under fire”, focuses teams and team members on a logical, data-driven approach to problem solving and problem prevention
- Lean Six Sigma, 5S master, leader, trainer
- Leads, educates, and applies quality tools and techniques such as 5S, lean six sigma, cost of poor quality, cause and effect diagrams, failure mode effects and criticality analysis, process flow diagrams, value stream mapping, standard operating procedures, and effective production training & certification programs
- Leads, educates, and applies safety tools and techniques such as ergonomics, job rotation programs, job safety analysis and mitigation, near miss and corrective and preventive action programs, machine guarding, environmental impact assessments, and poka yokes
- Leads regular safety audits, safety training, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards, ensure a safe work environment and regulatory compliance, and keeps detailed records of such
- Specifies and implements data requirements for statistical process control and optimization
- Specifies requirements, oversees process qualifications, verifies process capability using Cpk generation and analysis, conducts risk assessments, job safety analyses, and environmental impacts
- Identifies, generates, and leads internal corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs)
- Direct customer interface. Leads Corrective Action Request (CAR) responses and communications with customers
- Establishes supplier quality requirements & receiving inspection programs to ensure ongoing compliance of all suppliers, with all requirements
- Direct supplier interface. Issues and drives resolution of Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and communicates with suppliers
- Follows-through with action owners, driving actions to closure
- Oversees measurement and test equipment, controls, maintenance, and calibration
- Spearheads both internal and external quality and safety audits and compliance, e.g. ISO 9001, 14001, 22000, 45001, GMP
- Actively solicits feedback from, and communicates changes to, all stakeholders
- Provides coaching, mentoring, training, and guidance to other team members
- Leads cross-functional teams
- Develops, leads, and drives improvement projects
- Prepares and presents detailed, data and evidence based reports on quality and safety issues, investigations, and other significant outcomes
- Ensures the organization complies with all applicable health, safety, and environmental laws, regulations, and standards, including working with corporate resources to stay up-to-date with changing regulations
- Develops and maintains emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures and contingency plans for various scenarios
QUALIFICATIONS
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills to identify, assess, and resolve complex problems
- Excellent leadership skills
- Excellent analytical and math skills
- Excellent ergonomics knowledge and application
- Strong computer and information technology skills
- Strong attention to detail

- Solid understanding of quality management systems, such as ISO standards
- Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as within a team
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, requirements, geometric dimensions and tolerances, and designs
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE 4-year technical degree, or 8+ years of practical experience demonstrating mastery of safety and quality, both improvement and assurance.
LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, requirements, geometric dimensions and tolerances, designs documents, ergonomic best practices, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to build and populate reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively with groups of employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Probability and statistics, particularly as these pertain to statistical process control, sampling plans, defect and injury rates, etc.
