Job Description: Quality Nurse Manager - Ambulatory Surgery Center
Position Overview
The Quality Nurse Manager for the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) is a leadership role responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient care, compliance, and quality improvement. This position focuses on managing clinical quality initiatives, overseeing staff training and development, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards. The Quality Nurse Manager collaborates closely with surgeons, administrators, and clinical staff to drive excellence in patient outcomes and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Management:
• Develop, implement, and oversee quality improvement programs to enhance patient safety and clinical outcomes.
• Monitor and evaluate clinical performance metrics, patient satisfaction, and compliance with clinical protocols.
• Investigate and address adverse events, near misses, and patient complaints; develop corrective action plans.
2. Compliance and Accreditation:
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations, including CMS, OSHA, and HIPAA.
• Maintain accreditation standards with organizations such as AAAHC, Joint Commission, or equivalent.
• Conduct regular audits and prepare for accreditation surveys.
3. Leadership and Staff Development:
• Provide training and ongoing education to nursing and clinical staff on quality, safety, and compliance initiatives.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
• Conduct performance evaluations and assist in staff recruitment and retention strategies.
4. Risk Management:
• Identify and mitigate clinical risks through proactive analysis and intervention.
• Collaborate with the leadership team to implement policies and procedures that minimize risk exposure.
5. Collaboration and Communication:
• Act as a liaison between nursing staff, surgeons, and administration to align quality goals.
• Facilitate regular staff meetings to discuss performance, updates, and address concerns.
• Promote patient-centered care through effective communication and engagement.
Qualifications
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or a related field preferred.
• Licensure: Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years of clinical nursing experience, including 2+ years in a leadership or management role in an ASC, hospital, or outpatient setting.
• Certifications: Certified Ambulatory Surgery Nurse (CNAMB) or Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) preferred.
Key Skills and Competencies
• Strong knowledge of quality improvement frameworks (e.g., Plan-Do-Study-Act, Six Sigma, Lean).
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient in electronic medical records (EMR) and quality reporting tools.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire a team in a fast-paced environment.
Work Environment
• Position is based at a state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgery Center.
• Standard hours are Monday to Friday, with occasional on-call or extended hours depending on operational needs.
