Job Summary
The Quality Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing quality control systems to ensure consistent production that meets established standards, customer specifications, and production goals. This role supervises a team of quality engineers, quality control inspectors, and sorting department personnel. The Quality Manager ensures compliance with customer, internal, IATF 16949, and regulatory/legal requirements while managing staffing plans, production tracking, and resolving quality issues.
Responsibilities
- Quality Control Development:
- Understand customer needs and requirements to create effective quality control processes.
- Develop and review product and process specifications, ensuring supplier compliance with raw material standards.
- Conduct inspections and testing to uphold productivity and technical integrity.
- Quality Management System (QMS):
- Ensure alignment with internal, customer, IATF 16949, and regulatory/legal standards.
- Formulate, document, and maintain quality standards and objectives.
- Apply Total Quality Management (TQM) tools to improve analytical and reporting processes.
- Team Supervision and Training:
- Lead quality engineers, inspectors, and sorting department staff.
- Design and implement training programs for quality control procedures.
- Conduct annual reviews and manage sorting associates' performance.
- Data Analysis and Problem-Solving:
- Develop and analyze statistical data to establish quality benchmarks.
- Perform root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
- Document and manage Minimum Process Requirements (MPR).
- Vendor and Process Interaction:
- Collaborate with vendors to ensure purchased parts meet quality standards.
- Assist with process certifications and production scheduling.
- Operational Management:
- Track daily production targets and quality issues.
- Oversee inventory control for equipment like lasers, cameras, and fixtures.
- Sign off on weekly, monthly, and annual quality check sheets.
Qualifications
Must-Have:
- Associate degree or 710 years of progressive experience in the automotive, fastener, and/or metal manufacturing industry.
- 4+ years of leadership experience or leadership development training.
- Auditing experience (IATF 16949 certification preferred).
- Proficiency in:
- Blueprint reading
- Quality inspection processes
- ERP and quality control software
- Knowledge of:
- Minimum Process Requirements (MPR)
- Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Commitment to OSHA and company safety guidelines.
