The role
We are currently recruiting for a Quality Manager to join the IPL team in Lee’s Summit, MO. The Quality Manager is responsible for directing all aspects of the Quality Department to support the production goals of the Lee’s Summit facility.
Job overview of a Quality Manager at IPL:
- SQF Practitioner for the plant and remains a full-time employee.
- Acts to ensure the integrity of the Food Safety Management System and Food Safety Standards are being met.
- Develops and implements HACCP, Food Safety Plans and Food Safety Fundamentals.
- Conducts verification and validation activities for the Food Safety Management System.
- Schedules and conducts regular reviews of the Food Safety Management System with the Operations Team and Senior Management.
- Communicates information necessary to ensure effective implementation and maintenance of the Food Safety Management System.
- Complete all regulatory requests from customers and other entities.
- Maintain TraceGains online regulatory system and respond to customer requests through this system.
- Responsible for bringing regulatory specifications or requirements
- Ensure that all raw and packaging materials have up-to-date regulatory information supplied by vendors.
- Manage, train, and develop the employees of the quality department.
- Set measurement plans and expectations for new and existing products.
- Lead the customer complaint resolution process to ensure that corrective and preventive actions take place and communicate customer complaint information to Senior Management.
- Ensure that the defect communication system is implemented and effective in identifying, tracking and correcting internal non-conformities. Communicate non-conformity information to Senior Management.
- Ensure the SQC System is functioning properly.
- Ensure that Article-1’s are completed and utilized within the PDP process.
- Communicate results of EPR (Engineering Project Requisition) and SCR (Special Customer Request) tests and trials to all stakeholders.
- Recommend timely disposition of all held product.
- Ensure that QA Department Systems are current with industry requirements and recommend upgrades as needed.
Additional information (including specialized qualifications/ skills)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science and/or equivalent training/experience.
- SQF practitioner
- 2 to 5 years’ experience in the plastics industry
- Supervisory experience desirable
- A broad base of current technical knowledge to ensure that safety standards are met and efficiencies are maintained.
- Knowledge of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and machinery.
