What to expect:
This is a 3-month contract Quality Mechanical Inspector position, full time 5 days a week. You will be part of a global inspection team assuring the quality of components and assemblies that this global aerospace leader is sourcing from one or more suppliers in this area. Once on the team, you will be deployed through SQA's operations center based on client needs and each supplier's production schedule.
What you'll do:
You will be conducting precise mechanical inspections at the client-supplier site in Hawthorne, CA
Perform precision inspection verifications on mechanical parts, components, assemblies and materials. May include but is not limited to purchased parts, in-process and final assemblies, and materials for workmanship and conformance to specifications/drawings
Utilize inspection equipment such as micrometers, gauge blocks, dial indicators, height gauges, optical comparators, profilometers, and coordinate measuring machines (CMMs)
Approve or reject items and document inspection results as required
Perform documentation review and verification of certifications, specifications, and conformance to design and specification requirements
Communicate with internal customers, and suppliers as required to resolve inspection discrepancies
Perform surface plate inspection of the first article, in-process, and lot sample parts if required
Use an electronic enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to route parts and components to proper departments
What you'll need:
4+ years of hands-on inspection experience with precision machined parts
Knowledge and hands-on experience working with various inspection tools (i.e. calipers, micrometers, height gauges, thread gauges, etc.)
GD&T experience is required
CMM experience (but not necessarily CMM programming experience).
CMM programming experience is a plus
Due to the nature of the products, US Citizenship is also a requirement, and background checks are required.
Note: Mechanical inspectors at this level are capable of validating dimensions (total tolerances >/=.005 with Minimal GD&T validation) utilizing standard hand tools (e.g., micrometers, calipers, height gages)
Hourly rate while on site or working remotely (i.e. completing or modifying reports)
Minimum 4 hours per day if deployed (i.e. "4 hour minimum")
50% hourly rate for any travel time (i.e. "p2p")
Mileage reimbursement at US gov't rate ($0.655 per mile driven). Untaxed.
