Job Title: Quality Control Engineer
Classification: Full Time Salary, Exempt
Salary Range: $70,000 - $85,000 + Bonus eligibility and Benefits
Reports to: Engineering Manager
Date: 11/22/2024
Location: Austin, TX (This position is NOT eligible for remote work)
We are seeking a skilled Quality Control Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the highest quality standards for our manufactured products. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive quality inspections, performing rigorous tests, and implementing effective quality control measures.
Your work in this role will be centered around the following core competencies:
Quality Inspections and Standards:
- Drive quality control system compliance and improvement opportunities.
- Utilize statistical and root cause analysis to review current and past failures.
- Conduct thorough inspections of mechanical and electronic components, assemblies, and final products to identify defects, inconsistencies, or deviations from specifications.
- Audit manufacturing and test procedures.
- Develop and execute detailed test procedures to evaluate product performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards.
- Identify and troubleshoot quality issues, analyze root-causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Actively participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing processes.
Communication:
- Work with other departments and teams to maintain a company-wide quality culture.
- Provide technical expertise to other team members when needed.
- Interact with quality control members and manufacturing personnel to ensure quality processing and testing of all products.
- Work and communicate with outside manufacturers and vendors to ensure purchased and manufactured parts meet engineering and customer standards.
Documentation:
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of inspection results, test data, and quality control procedures.
- Plan, coordinate, analyze, and report quality issues, key performance indicators, and continuous improvement activities.
Desired Skills:
- Utilize a variety of laboratory equipment, including multi meters, oscilloscopes, and other specialized tools, to perform accurate measurements and analysis.
- Possess basic soldering skills to repair or modify electronic components as needed.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of Linux command-line interface for system troubleshooting and data analysis.
- Strong understanding of electronic components, schematics, and circuit diagrams.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred), Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in quality control or a similar role in the manufacturing industry.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong documentation and reporting abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of industry standards and certifications (e.g., ISO 9001, CE, Six Sigma).
- Experience with automated testing equipment and software.
