Position Summary:
The Quality Control/Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for maintaining and updating the laboratory's quality system, ensuring the accuracy of laboratory data, adherence to quality assurance protocols, and compliance with regulatory procedures. This role requires strong problem-solving skills for chemical and mechanical processes, excellent data review and validation capabilities, and exceptional organizational, computer, and communication skills. The QCM/QAM will manage staff interactions and work closely with industry regulators and clients, evaluating quality metrics and implementing corrective actions in collaboration with management.

Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Control:
- Manage the laboratory's performance testing program.
- Maintain laboratory quality assurance using fixed or statistically generated control limits.
- Assess and interpret quantitative results relative to project requirements.
- Evaluate results against project limits and determine if supplementary samples or retesting is needed.
- Audits:
- Conduct and facilitate audits to evaluate laboratory policies and procedures against standards.
- Document formal actions taken by the laboratory.
- Perform and document laboratory audits, review results, and recommend changes.
- Policies and Procedures:
- Implement regulatory and industry updates for new and improved laboratory policies, procedures, and test methods.
- Develop and implement lab operation policies, procedures, and standards in conjunction with the OPEX Quality team to ensure lab efficiency and performance.
- Staff Instruction:
- Mentor, instruct, and assist laboratory staff in testing protocols, technical processes, and procedures.
- Identify and address testing and data irregularities in sample collection, testing, and data analysis.
- Manage corrective actions.
- Client Support:
- Investigate and resolve client/customer complaints regarding results, reports, or other pertinent issues.
- Advise and work cooperatively with clients and administrative staff to meet client permit specifications or other regulatory needs.
- Provide polite and timely customer support through written and verbal communication.
- Explain and interpret laboratory processes and their potential impact on customer samples and results.
- Analytical Testing:
- Oversee various types of tests on a monthly basis.
- Instruct and assist in the maintenance of testing equipment and management of supplies.
- Perform both manual and electronic data collection.
- Report on testing progress, results, and timelines.
- Maintain and transmit records.
- Engage or assist in test method development and validation for environmental sample analysis.
- Data Validation:
- Review and validate data for compliance, accuracy, and quality.
- Assemble data validation packages.
- Quality Metrics:
- Establish and maintain periodic quality metrics reporting.
- Accreditation Maintenance:
- Collaborate with the Quality Manager of Accreditations to uphold accreditation programs, including quality assurance plans, SOPs, audit support, and performance testing.
- Process Monitoring:
- Monitor and document processes and procedural controls.
- Issue Investigation:
- Investigate and document non-conformance/non-compliance issues and customer complaints.
- Identify root causes and corrective actions.
- Regulation Adherence:
- Ensure turnaround times and deadlines are met while maintaining quality and regulatory adherence.
- Safety Promotion:
- Promote and ensure safe work practices in collaboration with the ATG Safety team.
- Additional Duties:
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- BS/BA degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a relevant science.
- Minimum of 7+ years of environmental laboratory experience; QA experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of data validation functional guidelines.
- Proficiency with Laboratory Information Management (LIM) applications and basic computer skills, including email and Microsoft Office.
