Job Details
The Supply Chain Manager directs the overall supply chain operations, including purchasing and inventory of raw materials, selection of vendors, and distribution of finished goods. Evaluates past performance data to forecast needs and production scheduling. The Supply Chain Manager develops strategic plans to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency of operations.
Essential Functions:

Provide progressive leadership and direction to all supply chain employees including logistics and purchasing personnel.
Coordinate supply chain activities with suppliers, customers, and logistics partners.
Act as a liaison between plant and corporate office regarding any supply chain activities.
Define value stream and work to continually improve flow to achieve better cycle times, lower inventory, and improved quality.
Work closely with customers to insure their JIT/JIS requirements are being met.
Review and approve master schedules.
Negotiate and execute contracts with suppliers and outside providers.
Maintain departmental/staff quality standards per IATF 16949 requirements.
Create and implement purchasing and inventory accuracy standards and practices.
Create and implement cost savings programs and drive completion towards set goals.
Implements lean manufacturing practices such as 5S, Kanban, poka-yoke, visual management, 1-piece flow, etc.
Prepare staff/departmental budgets and spending forecasts.
Work with cross functional group to develop processes, flow, and layouts.
Develop goals/objectives and define metrics to measure performance.
Established yearly targets and KPIs for department. Maintain regular reporting structure for targets and goals to be tracked and communicated.

Management is responsible for the implementation and communication of environmental and accident prevention regulations and legislation

Strong coaching skills, with the ability to differentiate coaching and management
Ability to interpret automotive drawings
Demonstrated ability to perform cost and financial calculations
Demonstrated ability to successfully negotiate commercial issues
Demonstrated ability to make determination as to best processes to incorporate into organization
Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams
Demonstrated self-reliance and assertiveness
Demonstrated problem solving capability and organizational skills
Knowledge of and experience of automotive Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) methodology, and IATF 16949 Quality Management System
Thorough knowledge of steel pricing policies
Supervisory Responsibility
This position serves as the head of department for Supply Chain. Department incorporates logistics and purchasing personnel.
This role is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment.
This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopies, filling cabinets and fax machines.
This job will also be exposed to manufacturing environment, such as production lines, power industrial trucks, and/or other manufacturing machines.
Physical Requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to
successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
Must be able to walk/move about a 500,000 sq ft manufacturing facility: 100% of the time
Must be able to stand/walk/move about specific work area: 90% of the time
Must be able to bend/reach/twist/stoop: 70% of the time
Must be able to lift 40lbs on a frequent basis: 40% of the time
Must be able to sit at a work station: 50% of the time
Must be able to work and operate a computer terminal: 80% of the time
Vision is required to analyze and process work; and to work on computer terminal/machine centers, etc.
Hearing is essential for safety reasons; and to communicate with employees, supervisors, managers, vendors, suppliers and customers via conversation, group meetings, and/or phone conferences.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent technical experience and training.
Minimum 7 years experience in purchasing of raw materials
Minimum of 7 years of experience in Logistics operations.
Previous experience with general Supply Chain topics as they relate to manufacturing processes.
Proven working experience of lean Manufacturing concepts.
Proven experience working with SAP/ERP system and respective logistics and purchasing modules.
Proficiency with MS office suite.
Basic Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001.
Preferred Education and Experience
Product knowledge and familiarity
Masters Degree in Supply Chain Management.
10 Years of experience in a leading Supply Chain Management related function
Automotive manufacturing experience as a Tier 1 supplier
