Job Summary
Provide professional services in psychiatry including psychiatric assessment, consultation, medication management, and referrals to CSULB students. The incumbent supports the University's commitment to the academic success of all students, including students of color, students with disabilities, and veterans, while offering a rich variety of expertise and perspectives.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric assessment and medication management to students, including initial intake evaluations and follow-up for students referred to psychiatry. Formulate appropriate ICD diagnosis, treatment plan, and disposition. Provide medication consultation and intervention as needed.
- Provide consultation to CAPS staff, campus SHS providers, CSU faculty/staff, and the public, both in-person and via telephone.
- Provide psychiatric consultation for the campus community.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to provide psychiatric services (clinical assessment, medication evaluation, crisis intervention, and psychiatric hospitalization). Effective medication management knowledge and protocols. Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and respect. Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to make effective presentations and write clear, concise notes and reports.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and maintain positive working relationships. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow university policies and contribute to a positive university experience for all students.
Education and Experience
• Graduation from a medical school and completion of one or more residency programs and/or fellowships accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or equivalent in a specialty appropriate to the assigned duties.
Licenses / Certificates
• Valid and relevant State of California license to practice medicine; current medical board certification appropriate for the assigned duties; valid DEA certificate and number for prescribing controlled substances; and current CPR/AED certification required.
• Current and valid Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry before commencement of the position.

Compensation
This appointment is for an 11/12 pay-plan position. The incumbent works 11 months per year and is paid over 12 months. Salary placement is determined by education, experience, and qualifications.
CSU Classification Salary Range: $6,866 - $13,363 per month. Excellent benefits through CalPERS (health, vision, dental), tuition fee waiver, generous vacation and sick leave, and 14 paid holidays each year.
Time Base
0.50 time-base, 20 hours per week.
Duration of Appointment
This is a temporary position for 11 months with no permanent status granted.
Physical Summary
