Project Mgmt Principal (Operations) - General Dynamics Ordnance & Tactical Systems

The selected candidate is responsible for prioritizing production needs within assigned programs to meet both customer and Strategic Business Unit (SBU) needs. This includes working with Contracts, Program Management (PM) and Supply Chain Management (SCM), Quality, from bid and proposal stage through execution and achievement of program goals. Goals include financial targets, Operations Planning / build plan attainment, delivery, inventory, and quality objectives.

• Manages all aspects of complex projects throughout the project lifecycle: planning, scope definition, design, execution, and delivery.
• Liaises between project members, cross-functional teams, external vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure deliverables, requirements, schedules, cost, and meeting plans are communicated.
• Assists with the selection, negotiation, and managing of all activities regarding external consultants or vendors.
• Utilizes appropriate tools to plan project timelines, tasks, milestones, and deadlines.
• Plans and facilitates project meetings to align the project team to methods and goals and to track project tasks.
• Prepares agendas, meeting notes, and project summaries.
• Tracks progress against milestones, budgetary guidelines, or other performance indicators, and prepares reports to senior management.
• Monitors task completion status to identify at risk project tasks and to develop mitigation plans.
• Allocates resources, budgets, and hours to the project and adjusts allocations when necessary.

• Required Education:  Associates Degree OR Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/ or Experience
• Preferred Education:  Bachelor's Degree
• Discipline/Major:  Business degree or related discipline preferred
• Additional Certifications:  Project Management Certification preferred
• Years and Area of Experience (required for the role):  7-8 years experience relevant to the positions functional area
