Project Manager - COO Project Management Office - MD Anderson

The primary purpose of the Project Manager, CPMO is to manage assigned projects within the COO Project Management Office in support of the Chief Operating Office. This position manages both large and small-scale projects as well as collaborates with leadership and across divisional lines to ensure alignment and progress of projects. This role leads the delivery of projects from implementation to sustainability and ensures project deliverables are on time, within budget, and meet the desired business objectives.

Ideal candidate will have Bachelor's degree with four years of project management experience. Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is a plus. Must be able to multitask, work autonomously and able to communicate verbally and written with all levels of leadership.

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

1. Project Management
1. Facilitates the implementation of projects/project teams using project management skills, tools, and techniques.
2. Manage project execution to ensure adherence to budget, schedule, and scope​
3. Develop or update project plans for projects including information such as project objectives, information specifications, schedules, funding, technologies, and staffing​
4. Submit project deliverables, ensuring adherence to quality standards​
5. Establish and execute a project communication plan including updates on progress and budgets as needed​
6. Schedule and facilitate meetings related to projects including creating agendas, presentations, and minutes ​
7. Initiate, review, or approve modifications to project plans ​
8. Perform risk assessments to develop response strategies​
9. Track project milestones and ensure projects are completed on time and to quality standards.
10. Demonstrates understanding of project management principles, critical thinking ability, and complex problem solving skills

1. Resource Coordination
1. Confer with project personnel to identify and resolve problem; Raise and identify any key project risks or issues​
2. Manage activities of project personnel​
3. Assign duties, responsibilities, and spans of authority to project resources ​
4. Work with staff to develop project goals and project plans.
5. Determine and secure necessary resources to complete projects.

1. Project Reporting
1. ​ Monitor or track project milestones and deliverables including managing and updating RAID log​
2. Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing trends​
3. Work with reporting teams to determine statistical and qualitative analysis needs for each project and work with staff to determine appropriate sources and methods.
4. Develop and report on evaluation criteria for each project.
5. Develop report and reconcile project budgets and grant submissions as necessary.

Bachelor's degree in related field. Four years of related project/program management experience. May substitute required education degree with additional years of equivalent experience. With preferred degree two years of experience is required.
