Internship Summary:
Kuraray's paid internship program allows students the opportunity to obtain valuable, applicable work experience in a fast-paced, and challenging environment. The program blends real world experience with an extensive overview of the chemical industry. Knowledgeable mentors will provide guidance as you gain professional hands-on experience. The internship will be three to four months in duration for the summer of 2023, with flexible start dates. Student interns must be able to work full time in a hybrid format, mostly working in office. The internship will be split between hands on learning opportunities, an intern specific project, and daily tasks.
No housing will be provided as part of the internship.
Position Summary:
The Project Engineer Intern will implement engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements. Develop project scopes, budget estimates, equipment specifications, and documentation. Assist Project Engineers with ongoing capital projects. Supervise jobs in the field to ensure safe, efficient, and quality work.
Responsibilities:
- Develop scopes and cost estimates for upcoming projects. With focus on the project customer's requests
- Develop project objectives, specifications, benefits analysis, budgets and overall feasibility to execute.
- Assist other Project Engineers with project commissioning.
- Provide monthly reports summarizing monthly activities and upcoming plans, safety concerns, schedules and cost for all projects and personal objectives.
- Assist Project Engineers with troubleshooting to develop technical knowledge.
- Actively participate in safety programs and training.
- Perform field safety audits and assist contractors with hazard identification.
- Develop knowledge of the EVAL Process, Process Safety Management, processing equipment, and project management.
- Assist Project Engineers with troubleshooting to develop technical knowledge.
- Participate in the Management of Change process.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
- Completed at least two years of college education before beginning internship
- Strong academic performance minimum 3.0/4.0 GPA and extracurricular achievement
- Demonstrated communication and leadership skills
- Ability to communicate and gather input from various sources
- Ability to plan and organize the work and document progress clearly and concisely
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and proven track record of adaptability, innovation, initiative, and integrity
- Must have legal U.S. working authorization to participate in the program
- Must successfully pass pre-employment screening process
- Must be at least 18 years of age
