System One is currently seeking a Project Controls Manager on a 12 month contract position located in Denver, CO.
Project Controls Manager Responsibilities:
- Responsible for managing project controls functions for the Colorado Power Pathway Project.
- Reporting to the project director, this role encompasses planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, and reporting to ensure the project is delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards.
- Develop and implement comprehensive project controls processes and systems, identifying and mitigating risk potentials to the project.
- Lead and mentor a team of project controls professionals, including cost controllers and schedulers. Lead and direct schedule management involving critical path method scheduling techniques, estimating, project cost management, forecasting and document control
- Collaborate closely with project management, land acquisition & permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, and other stakeholders.
- Implement industry best practices in project controls and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and maintain the project baseline schedule using Primavera P6.
- Monitor project progress, identify variances, and implement corrective actions with the project team.
- Analyze schedule impacts and provide forecasts and recovery plans as necessary.
- Ensure accurate cost management, including detailed cost estimates and forecasts.
- Ensure accurate Earned Value Management system reporting.
- Implement cost control processes to monitor expenditures, commitments, and cash flow.
- Prepare cost variance analyses and recommend actions to mitigate overruns.
- Identify Project Controls improvement opportunities and contribute to the project risk management processes
- Collaborate on risk identification, assessment, and mitigation activities
- Manage the development, implementation and maintenance of management reporting system.
- Prepare project reports, including status updates, dashboards, and executive summaries.
- Ensure accurate and timely communication of project performance to stakeholders.
- Work closely with the Quality Manager to integrate quality metrics into project controls.
- Ensure that project controls processes support the achievement of quality objectives.
Project Controls Manager Requirements:
- Extensive experience in large capital infrastructure projects.
- Experience in the utilities industry is a plus but not required.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, CCP, EVP) are a plus.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in project controls for large capital infrastructure projects.
- At least 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Experience in the utilities industry, particularly in electric utilities or high-voltage transmission projects, is a plus but not required.
- Expert proficiency in Oracle Primavera P6.
- Proficiency in other project management tools including Microsoft Project and cost management tools and Microsoft Office.
- Expert knowledge of project controls methodologies, including earned value management.
- Familiarity with risk management processes and tools.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Professional certifications such as Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Cost Professional (CCP), or Earned Value Professional (EVP) preferred.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance in infrastructure projects preferred.
