As a Project Architect, you'll be responsible for overseeing the research, design, planning, and administration of building projects. Your role will ensure that project goals are achieved within the set time frame and budget constraints.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with clients to identify and define functional and spatial needs for new structures or renovations. Prepare detailed information on design, specifications, materials, color schemes, equipment, estimated costs, and project timelines.
- Conduct site visits to assess current conditions and gather necessary information.
- Develop fee proposals, time, cost, and staffing budgets for departmental approval.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of project team members to ensure timely progress and adherence to budget.
- Design project layouts and integrate engineering components into a cohesive plan for client review and approval.
- Create scale drawings and contract documents for use by building contractors.
- Act as a representative for clients in the bidding process and in awarding construction contracts.
- Administer construction contracts and conduct periodic site inspections to ensure compliance with project plans.
- Prepare studies, reports, and project designs using CAD software and related equipment.
- Lead and manage the creation of drawings and specification documents by project staff.
- Address client concerns and provide technical guidance to project teams.
- Perform final quality checks and ensure buildability of project documents.
- Sign and seal all project documents created under your supervision.
- Comply with site safety regulations during construction.
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
- Expertise in architectural design principles, building styles, and construction methods.
- Ability to interpret and analyze written communication, specifications, and technical drawings.
- Skilled in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation.
- Effective in presenting information and responding to inquiries from managers, clients, and the public.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant software, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid Virginia driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture from an accredited five-year program.
- Licensed architect in Virginia with an active NCARB record, which must be maintained.
- Must complete necessary training and testing for licensure within specified deadlines.
