Description
The Program Coordinator for our Art of Advocacy program reports to the Director of Recovery Services. They co-lead the delivery of our three-year, federally funded Building Communities of Recovery grant, and support programming at the Brooklyn Community Recovery Center. These programs are designed to enhance and target the Center’s engagement with the recovery community, to increase social capital, improve satisfaction with participant’s neighborhood and built environments, and enhance access to care. Our program uses multi-modal artist workshops that include, but are not limited to weaving, wheel and hand pottery, glass blowing, therapeutic horticulture, music, photography, murals, and painting, to engage participants in community building and wellness coaching. Working with other program staff, they coordinate the planning and execution of artist workshops, wellness coaching, and participation in ongoing artist collaboratives by liaising with artists, vendors, and partner organizations for proposals, contracts, and/or linkages; conduct outreach and enroll participants; and to support the management of logistics, data collection, and record keeping for the program. The Center works in service to an individual’s long-term recovery and seeks to establish and maintain community relationships in furtherance of a community recovery vision (i.e. reduce stigma), and toward the mission and goals of the Recovery Community Outreach Center, and those of the agency-at-large.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned.
· Oversee the recruitment and enrollment of participants, and the collection of data through the Government Performance and Results Act (GPRA) measurement tool;
· Provides guidance and support to other staff and participants to ensure an adequate recovery care environment exists;
· Facilitates independently or in coordination with other leadership, regular staff meetings to coordinate activities in accordance with the program’s goals;
· Evaluates and monitors program activities (e.g. counseling, peer encounter groups, seminars and workshops, work assignments);
· Liaise with internal and external colleagues to coordinate outreach, recruitment, and participation;
· Co-lead the execution of artist workshops and other program activities;
· Provide recovery and/or wellness coaching to participants;
· Under the guidance of the Director of Recovery Services, evaluates program effectiveness, revises the program design and/or policies and procedures, as needed;
· Responsible for coordinating on administrative functions and reporting, including preparing ordering supplies, informing annual budgets, controlling monthly expenses, scheduling staff and issuing required monthly reports;
· Responsible for developing relationships with appropriate community agencies, coalitions, partnerships, and service providers, etc;
· Collaborates with the Director of Recovery Services for developing and maintaining relationships with appropriate government agencies;
· Has knowledge of New York’s artistic communities and actively participates in connecting and being present in cultural spaces;
· Work with onboarding independent contractors, tracking programming budget, and working with finance department;
· Event planning, outreach, and logistical experience to co curate annual art exhibition;

Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION
· Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Art, Music, Movement or related field
PREFERRED EDUCATION
· Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, Mental Health or related field
LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
· Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA) or provisional (CRPA-P); Certified Recovery Coach (CRC)
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
· 2 years of experience providing or coordinating service delivery, mentoring/coaching/leading staff and/or volunteers
· Familiarity with regulations governing substance use disorder recovery support services
WORK ENVIRONMENT
· This job operates in both an indoor office and community-based environment, and outdoors. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones and photocopiers.
