Job Description Summary:
The Office of Enrollment and Student Success (ESS) is a mission-driven organization providing a cohesive experience throughout all phases of the student lifecycle, from the admissions and enrollment process through graduation and beyond, by supporting a connected, comprehensive and student-centered approach to student success. The Program Associate will work to support Enrollment and Student Success and student success initiatives across campus and in the community. Collaborating with internal entities, the Program Associate will provide project management support and business development through analyzing data and GW processes to advance ESS and GW’s brand, value, and mission.
Reporting to and at the direction of the Senior Data Analyst, the position will be responsible for assisting with analyzing and reporting of enrollment and student success data and business processes. This position is responsible for extracting, analyzing, and reporting data from both institutional and external databases to respond to reoccurring and ad hoc requests from within ESS. This position also works collaboratively on projects with colleagues within and outside ESS. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest in analysis and reporting of enrollment and student success trends.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with Senior Data Analyst and ESS Operations team on the delivery and evaluation of initiatives and assessments to support Enrollment and Student Success units
- Extract, analyze, and report information from the university’s student information system (Banner), CRM, Handshake, and other university or external data sources in response to recurring and ad hoc requests.
- Conduct research, interpret data, perform analyses, and generate reports focused primarily on admissions, enrollment, engagement, and retention to inform understanding of outcomes and trends.
- Assist the ESS Operations team to design and develop reports and analyses to support initiatives for all ESS units
- Provide program support and assistance to the enrollment division as necessary under the direction of the Sr Data Analyst
Performs other related duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with the development of surveys and analysis of survey data.
- Ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously and manage competing priorities, complete assignments on time and with a high degree of quality and responsiveness with moderate supervision.
- Excellent oral and written skills and the ability to communicate comfortably with students, colleagues, and external constituents while maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to work well both independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Cultural competency to work with diverse students and/or employee population.
- Understanding of and experience with large relational databases and demonstrated aptitude in data analysis or data management.
- Experience with reporting tools, understanding of simple programming (e.g. SQL) to query ad extract data from large databases.
- Proficiency in the use of SPSS, Python, Microsoft Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Word, or equivalent.
