Scope of role:
The Production Supervisor directs the activities of and has responsibility for, subordinates in direct production and indirect support functions in an operations environment. This position is responsible for the planning, controlling, and administration of plant production schedules, production cost and quality standards, employee relations, and staffing requirements consistent with company policies, plans, and directives. Maintain production schedules within cost and quality standards. Balance both production and safety standards to achieve production goals while minimizing injury. Assure communication of policies, production performance, costs, and standards.
Key Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops, implements, and maintains departmental and individual goals and performance measures
- Aligns individual and team/departmental goals to support overall organizational goals and motivates and recognizes employees on achievements
- Coordinates workload requirements and work scheduling with teams
- Develops, reviews, and maintains staffing requirements
- Manages annual performance evaluations, development, discipline, and terminations
- Interviews and selects new employees
- Coordinates all activities of direct employees and provides resources to achieve team goals
- Identifies and provides resources for employee development and training
- Identifies training needs related to safety, quality, new technologies, and application tools
- Ensures employee's certifications and training requirements are kept current as required for the position
- Ensures employees adhere to all work instructions and quality requirements
- Manages direct and indirect labor
- Actively motivates direct reports and team/project employees
- Leads strategic projects for functional area
- Clearly communicates and advocates the vision and strategies of the Company
- Collaborates with others on continuous process improvement and cost reduction plans
- Works with appropriate support staff to evaluate current work tools, processes, tooling/equipment, and operational concepts
- Supports and participates in the Lean Management Systems and Kaizen events
- Drives and sustains 5S Housekeeping efforts
- Establishes and follows standardized work practices
- Trains new employees as required providing support and expertise
- Attends and participates in scheduled meetings
- Inspects finished product for quality
- Follows workflow processes and standard work instructions
- Problem solves and communicates effectively with the work team
- Contribute ideas for continuous improvement of workflow and processes
- Follows all safety guidelines and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Requirements
- An Associate’s degree or 3 years of related experience is required
- Lean training or experience desired
- Management/supervision experience preferred
Interpersonal, Leadership, and Technical Skills
- Excellent Project Management skills
- Solid understanding of processes, equipment, and tools used in specific areas of responsibility
- Strong ability to analyze and make recommendations using data
- Solid communication skills both written and verbal. Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers

- Demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement activities through strong team-building and problem-solving
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize day-to-day activities and issues within functional area
- Ability to delegate effectively follow through on assigned tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to create and deliver presentations in a comprehensive and professional manner to departments, peers, and higher levels in the organization
- Knowledge of lean principles (e.g., lean manufacturing). Understand how the areas of their business fit into STE and be able to mentor the team to provide the most impact
- Ability to assess situations and solve complex issues on a department level
- Ability to make decisions in a timely manner, sometimes with incomplete information and under tight deadlines and pressure
- Ability to prioritize and manage projects with scope and impact at the department level
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills, ability to motivate teams, and demonstrated ability to resolve complex employee-related issues

- Ability to use all extremities to efficiently operate manual tools and power tools
- Ability to work in a variety of environments which may include exposure to extreme heat, humidity, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, loud noise, and all-weather conditions
- This position may require overtime, night shift, and weekend work hours
