Job SummaryJob Title: Production Manager
Location: Willsboro, NY
JOB SUMMARY:
Plan, direct, or coordinate the work activities and resources necessary to manufacture products in accordance with cost, quality, and quantity specifications. Responsible for the safe and compliant operation of all processes. Lead site implementation of Continuous Improvement (I3) methodologies to drive efficiency, service-level, culture and profitability improvements. Identify and execute training & team-building opportunities within and between departments. Foster effective communication and coordination within the plant and among Corporate support functions. Actively participate in the development and execution of the site's Commercial Plan.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:- Lead efforts in fostering a team environment within the production staff.
- Effectively communicate expectations and provide feedback to employees regarding performance in safety, quality, delivery, and cost control.
- Manage production schedule and organize available resources to fulfill customer needs.
- Partner with site Maintenance organization to effectively and proactively improve up-time, reduce unplanned repairs, minimize 'run-to-fail' activities.
- Liaise with Packaging & Shipping to ensure product is available for on-time shipment.
- Introduce & implement Continuous Improvement (I3) initiatives in coordination with Corporate guidance.
- Provide front line process technical expertise / problem solving and hands-on process assistance to the production staff to drive continuous improvement.
- Ensure all processes and work activities are fully compliant with regulatory and corporate policy - that operators are well-trained and executing requirements.
- Communicate with Customer Service regarding customer demand and issues that may arise impacting production.
- Work with Quality and customers to handle issues related to quality and processing.
- Engage Process Engineering inquiries & deliverables to systematically address opportunities & inefficiencies.
- With local & corporate Process & Project Engineering, identify, organize and execute Capital improvements.
- Champion Change Management.
- Actively participate in the site leadership transition.
- Develop and execute departmental operating budgets.
- Establish, implement and communicate KPIs to effectively drive all of the above-mentioned activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships ( engaging and forthright) with subordinates so that the team adopts the efforts to achieve the established targets - Adept at Change Management
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven problem solving skills (process, mechanical, and people) to identify opportunities for improvement and develop then implement resolution to the point the issue is eliminated
- Demonstrated since of ownership to the point that constraints are eliminated rather than accepted - Comfortable challenging the status quo.
- Demonstrated success in preparing and presenting improvement proposals with appropriate justification - Eagerness to try a new approach, fail, and try again.
- Ability to further develop subordinates by identifying and fostering growth environment
- Knowledge in Managerial Cost Accounting methods is a plus.
- Excellent multi-tasking skills with proven computer skills to enhance ability to effective
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Business, Mining, or related field preferred.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a manufacturing/processing industry - preferably "heavy industry"
- 2 years direct leadership experience
- SAP experience, preferred
