POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Manager will work on a broad range of events from major concerts to local events and programming. Activities associated with the job include assisting co-workers, other facility departments and volunteers with executing special events. In this role, the Production Manager will have the opportunity to manage and support various events, creating new ways to address unique challenges and collaborating directly with internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to handle multiple projects and adapt to fast-paced changing environments while maintaining quality and exemplary leadership and teamwork.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
- Liaison between tour production, venue, and vendors, acting as the Promoter Rep
- Coordinate pre-sale technical information, including production needs, rider requirements, staging, and capacity changes
- Manage all day of show needs with the partnership of venue staff and local vendors
- Organize outside rentals and labor needs based on touring show needs
- Coordinate equipment and staff within budget
- Manage all on-site of concert/private events, adherence to time schedules, sound restrictions, and budget
- Provide excellent customer service to artists/clients
- Oversee tasks such as participating in the chalking of the floor for rigging, venue storage walkthroughs, dressing room assignments, vehicle parking plan and logistics, and caterer needs
- Communicate regularly when changes arise related to show times, stage production, or overall concert experience
- Manage a team of runners, production coordinators, and production assistants throughout the show day
- Settle all artist/vendor payments as needed
- Maintain and develop vendor relationships
- Develop and maintain relative documents including production and site drawings, on-sale layouts, timelines, schedules, and artist technical riders
- Assist in managing technical production (i.e. stage, sound, video, lighting, backline, broadcast, labor crews)
- Support in managing site operations (i.e. power, heavy equipment, traffic management, crowd control measures, sanitation, permitting, and engineering)
- Overseeing multiple projects from start to finish, including presence on-site from load in to load out
- Create/maintain debrief documents including settlement notes for finance and suggested notes for the following year
- Serve as Manager-On-Duty ("MOD") at certain key events
- Participate in planning/strategic meetings
- Other duties as assigned by management
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's in business management or related degree preferred
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
- Be a self-motivated individual who possesses a "roll up the sleeves attitude"
- Must work well under pressure/even tempered
- Ability to make clear concise decisions; sometimes with limited information.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office
- Project management, planning, and production management experience (3+ years)
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Flexible work and travel schedule (days/nights, late hours, weekends, and holidays) Strong people skills with an emphasis on competent and diplomatic communication with client, vendor and artist representatives
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technology, information, resources, and environments
- Experience planning large scale events (5,000 people +)
- Experience in stage management, show running, and show planning for large scale events
- Ability to negotiate and liaise with agencies
- Possess current CPR/First Aid/AED certifications or must be willing to obtain them within a specified period of time
- Experience with alcohol and bar technology equipment across all applicable events
WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds waist-high
- Ability to travel as necessary
- May be required to sit, stand squat, stoop, or bend for extended periods of time, whether indoors or outdoors
- Will be required to operate a computer
- Loud noise level in working environment
