Built for multiple uses, our family of engines is powering the next generation of rockets for commercial, civil, national security, and human spaceflight.The BE-4 Valves and Ignition Systems Product Team Lead is the engineering manager of a hardworking and focused team of flow control valve and ignition system design engineers, project engineers, and analysis engineers.
As the manager of this diverse team, you will set technical direction and priorities in line with programmatic goals, mentor team members to enable efficient production and incremental BE-4 Engine needs, and lead the development team through every stage of product development and operational lifecycle.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Provide programmatic direction and coach a team of dedicated Responsible (Design) Engineers, Project Engineers, and Analysis Engineers by reviewing technical work, giving them actionable feedback, setting clear goals, and coordinating project work with other teams and managers.Own business rhythm reviews and communication paths to the IPT Lead, supporting program manager and business teams, including: weekly/monthly program management reviews, finance reviews, long term forecasting, business plan, project deep dives, design reviews, etc.The complete employee experience including hiring, performance management, and training, as well as providing tools for career development.Implements effective engineering methods within their team and providing technical guidance.Improving technical processes and tool development around focused areas of Design for Manufacturability (DfM), component and subsystem functional testing, and engine development cycles.Administering operations in accordance with company's policies, priorities, and budget constraints set forth by senior management.Leading your Teams’ activities throughout entire life cycle of the BE-4 Engine development and operations, including requirements analysis, concept development, detailed design, build, test, and flight.Being wholly accountable for the design, planning, and successful development of components and/or subsystems (up to and including integrated engine and vehicle testing) to verify requirements and validate operational capabilities.Providing safe, repeatable, and quality test capabilities that help explore the operational envelope and verify requirements for the current and next generation of rocket engines.Support team through anomaly and root cause investigations and corrective actions.In addition to management responsibilities, you will also be a primary point of contact within the IPT.
You will contribute to and lead component design, manufacturing, test support, data reviews and Test Readiness Reviews, support anomaly investigations and root cause analysis to drive corrective actions and hardware improvements.
To be successful in this role, you must demonstrate the leadership skills and the ability to formulate engineering initiatives focused on the continuous improvement of life, reliability, performance, and producibility of rocket engine turbomachinery components and assemblies.Minimum QualificationsMinimum of a B.S.
degree in engineering or science related discipline (aerospace, mechanical, chemical or physics preferred)8+ years of liquid rocket engine, flight equipment, spacecraft, launch vehicle, and or aircraft systems development experience.Strong technical fundamentals in mechanical design, manufacturing and materials processing within an AS9100 quality system.Demonstrated experience with Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DfMA)Familiarity with data analysis and data processingConsistent track record leading teams through earning trust and maintaining positive, professional relationships in a way that would strengthen our culture of inclusion.Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
