Position Overview
Following the acquisition of the majority shareholding by 3G capital, the organization is now going through a transformation to deliver a more leveraged and efficient structure to enable a platform for accelerated growth, both organically and via acquisition.
A world class global Procurement function will be a central pillar in delivering this new operating structure. A more centralized approach will enable significant value creation and leverage on over $2 billion of group spend.
The scope of the role is broad and will require both proven technical and leadership skills for the right candidate to succeed. As a key partner to both the procurement, commercial, supply-chain & finance teams the role has broad organizational exposure.
Relationships and Efficiency will be constituent parts of the role, so good all-round commercial acumen are essential as well as being highly analytical.
The role will be Atlanta, GA or Broomfield, CO based, it will be North America focused, however global in nature supporting a global supply chain and team colleagues based in Europe.
What you'll do
The Category Manager will develop, implement, monitor and realize the Sourcing strategies for the sub categories and spend areas across modes including TL, LTL, Parcel, Air, Ocean, Rail, and 3PL. Support stakeholder's strategies & requirements to ensure alignment and results on all agreed goals with BU and Group functions. In this capacity, you will have substantial involvement in supporting supply chain, sales and solution design and in helping Procurement be a trusted advisor and expand their involvement and value add.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing Sourcing Strategies for logistics services in alignment with requirements from the Global Category Strategy for logistics services ensuring productivity and efficient services that meet collaborative goals.
- Delivers and sets the strategy in alignment with cross-functional stakeholders for mode/category cost savings targets and service levels, supplanted with year-over-year productivity improvements in TCO and KPIs
- Develop and implement regional strategies / carrier mix for logistics services, across modes for US, CA, MX, with ability to support more global regions if value identified
- Support development of new technology for esourcing, negotiations, supplier selection/awarding, integration, business case development, and supplier contracting
More specifically the role will be responsible for:
- Champion and secure optimal supplier mix to improve Total cost of ownership (TCO) reductions and improved service across modes
- Contribute to enhanced S&OP, Escalations, Digitalization, and customer experience
- Ensure alignment globally working with global category managers & supply chain
- Oversee the process to select and manage suppliers / carriers
- Measure and track internal performance within each spend category
- Provide industry and supplier research, market intelligence and financial analyses
- Key Stakeholders include External Partners and suppliers across modes, Business Partners, Sales and Commercial Teams, Customer Service, Logistics, Planning, Supply Chain, Group Finance teams, Global Procurement teams
Who you are
- 5+ years previous experience of working in a Procurement, Logistics Services or Transport / Logistics Operations, Business, Consulting role are essential to enable the right individual to hit the ground running.
- Advanced sourcing toolkit and supply base management
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and trends
- Strong negotiating skills
- World class supplier relationship and supplier development skills
- Strong ability to effectively manage in a matrix organizational structure
- Solid multi-phase project management skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Advance competency in MS Office - Excel & PowerPoint
- SAP experience is a plus
- Proficiency eSourcing tools
