Role Description
The Procurement Analyst/Senior Analyst - Packaging is a critical role on the Supply Chain team. This role will impact Simple Mills’ continued growth with hands-on execution of responsibilities while gaining experience and exposure to procurement, supply chain, manufacturing, and overall operations strategy. The position will report to the Materials Planning Manager.
Key Responsibilities Include:
Procurement
- Execute packaging material planning, ensuring timely procurement of packaging materials.
- Establish a vendor managed inventory program with our top packaging supplier to elevate packaging inventory management and maximize efficiency within our manufacturing network.
- Partner with cross functional brand team to streamline graphics commercialization process.
- Implement new material planning technology to modernize ordering process and enable supply chain digitization objectives.
- Support the strategic sourcing process and associate projects, including but not limited to sourcing events and negotiation, supplier onboarding, and execution of cost focused strategy initiatives.
- Support the Simple Mills Supplier Partnership Program and quarterly business reviews with key suppliers.
- Minimize loss of raw material inventory and inventory overages, support reconciliation on-site at co-manufacture (co-man).
- Support R&D trials and innovation requests.
- Performs other projects as assigned
Logistics
- Identify raw material freight optimization and overall inbound logistics opportunities.
- Ensure all suppliers comply with shipping and receiving policies of Simple Mill’s co-mans.

Requirements
- 2+ years' experience in Procurement and/or Supply Chain.
- Bachelor's Degree requiredin Supply Chain, Business, Economics, or related field.
- Previous experience working with suppliers on a day-to-day basis.
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills (ability to structure and analyze data, manipulate pivot tables, create trackers, and utilize basic functions).
- Previous experience with NetSuite or ERP system a plus.
- Previous experience in packaging procurement or planning at a CPG or packaging supplier a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to interact with employees at all levels of the organization in a professional manner.
- Ability to support cross-functional projects with varying levels of complexity.
- Detail oriented with the ability to work with speed and accuracy.
- Thrives in ambiguity, creatively solves problems with incomplete information, and a drive to provide solutions.
- Self-directed and results focused with a bias towards action. Able to synthesize multiple pieces of information and active decisively with a strong sense of urgency and ownership of resolution.

Compensation will be competitive for the ideal candidate. Simple Mills operates with a hybrid-model: a balance of in-person and virtual work. Hybrid employees will work from our Chicago, IL office at least once per week. When working remotely, employees must work from a designated location in the United States (the new hire’s permanent residence, as documented in our HR System, Rippling) with sufficient internet access to support video conferencing. Safety protocols in accordance with CDC recommendations are followed.
