JOB REQUIREMENTS: We have 3 Rare job openings in our finishing
department. Cutting Assistant - Assist Heidelberg Cutting operators
which are automated with lifts, joggers, and unloaders. Folding
Assistant - Assist Heidelberg/Stahl folder operators. Continuous and
pallet-fed folders. Stitching Assistant - Assist Muller Martini saddle
stitcher operators. 6 and 10 pocket saddle stitchers. Duties include but
not limited to: Assist folder, cutter, and saddle stitcher operators
with loading feeders and picking up product off of the finishing line.
Examine stitched, collated, bound, or unbound product samples for
defects, such as imperfect bindings, correct size, etc. Prepare finished
pieces for shipping by wrapping or packing books and stacking boxes on
pallets. Monitor machine operations to detect malfunctions or to
determine whether adjustments are needed. Install or adjust bindery
machine devices, such as knives, guides, rollers, to accommodate sheets,
signatures, or books of specified sizes. Trim edges of books to size,
using cutting machines, book trimming machines, or hand cutters.
Identify and mark materials, products, and samples, following
instructions. Inspect materials and products for defects, and to ensure
conformance to specifications. Load materials and products into machines
and equipment, or onto conveyors, using hand tools and moving devices.
Push dual control buttons and move controls to start, stop, or adjust
machinery and equipment. Clean and maintain machinery, equipment, and
work areas to ensure proper functioning and safe working conditions.
Fasten, package, or stack materials and products, using hand tools and
fastening equipment. Remove materials and products from machines and
equipment, and place them in boxes, trucks or conveyors, using hand
tools and moving devices. Transfer materials and products to and from
machinery and equipment, using industrial trucks or hand trucks. Read
work orders to determine instructions and specifications for machine
set-up. Examine stitched, collated, bound, or unbound product samples
for defects, such as imperfect bindings, ink spots, torn pages, loose
pages, or loose or uncut threads. Install or adjust bindery machine
devices, such as knives, guides, rollers, rounding forms, creasing rams,
or clamps, to accommodate sheets, signatures, or books of specified
sizes. Maintain records, such as daily production records, using
specified forms. Set up or operate bindery machines, such as coil
binders, thermal or tape binders, plastic comb binders, or specialty
binders. Prepare finished books for shipping by wrapping or packing
books and stacking boxes on pallets. * OTHER EXPERIENCE AND
QUALIFICATIONS: Related experience a plus. Ability to work under tight
deadlines. Good manual dexterity, mechanical aptitude, the ability to
read a ruler, to use a calculator, and to perform basic math. Command of
the English language to the extent that there can be an immediate
understanding of job tickets and oral instructions. Manual dexterity as
it relates to handling paper, printing products and operating related
equipment. Must be able to see objects near, far, in color, and in
peripherals Ability to bend, twist, lift, grip, crouch and stand
throughout an 8 - 10 hour shift. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.,
frequently and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. * APPLICATION
