Job Description & ResponsibilitiesPersistent Systems is seeking a Principal Wireless Communication Systems Design Engineer to join our team and be based in our NYC headquarters. In this role, you will be part of a best-in-class Ad Hoc Network system engineering development team.
You will work closely with the teams like architecture, RF, FPGA, Software and DSP for the FPGA based SDR (software defined radio) design.
You will involve the SDR system performance evaluation, data analysis, issues troubleshooting and performance optimization (power efficiency, signal quality, size of logic resources) to meet the System Design Specifications. Position ResponsibilitiesDirect responsibility for development of Crest Factor Reduction, Digital Predistortion and Envelope Tracking Provide specifications and reference algorithms for RF, SW and DSP implementationsConduct SDR system validation and analysisPropose design and process changes for handling RX jamming and multi-radio coexistence issues considering trade-offs and implementation constrains Interface with our internal FPGA/DSP group to relay the results of the system performanceCollaborate to identify and solve performance issues within the RF and FPGA/DSP sub-systemsResponsible for providing RF transceiver, DPD and ET calibration algorithm and define the testing methodsMeasure, Optimize and ensure baseband application is performing optimallyJob Qualifications & Experience Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent and relatable degree 15 + years of experience in wireless systems design and implementationSolid knowledge of wireless communications and digital signal processingDeep understanding of Wireless PHY/MAC, RF data-path and control algorithmsExtensive design and implementation experience in wireless modem and RF transceiverIn-depth knowledge of wireless RF architecture, RF impairments (Phase Noise, Non-linearity, IQ imbalance) and digital compensation techniquesProven expertise and experience in concepts, architectures, implementation, and validation for Crest Factor Reduction (CFR), Digital Predistortion (DPD) and Envelope Tracking (ET) for High Power GaN Power AmplifiersProven understanding on RF link budget, RX AGC operation and optimization techniques in the presence of different jammer conditionsSolid understanding of calibration concepts of RF transceiver, DPD and ET to meet requirements in high volume productionProduct experience in FPGA based SDR (software defined radio) design and in 802.11 protocol developmentIdentify and analyze critical requirements and provide deep dive assessments with respect to critical metric impact, timeline and risksFamiliarity with standard RF lab equipment, as well as simulation tools such as MATLAB and PythonExcellent communication skills and people skills as the position requires the ability to work with othersApplicant must have the ability to obtain a United States Security ClearancePreferred QualificationsPh.D.
in Digital Signal Processing, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent and relatable degree Working experience at startup company for SDR development Total compensation for this role can vary from $180,000 to $220,000 a year based on individual qualifications.
