Sensors: Space and Air division in McKinney, TX is seeking a Principal Software Engineer [Embedded] to be an active participant on the software development team, working with cutting edge technologies in products.
What you will do:
- Perform requirements analysis / definition to ensure the system will meet all customer requirements.
- Participate in software design and development, as well as supporting system integration and test, all using the established Raytheon engineering processes and practices.
- Support design, development, testing and integration of hardware devices.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplined team where there are experienced engineers to provide mentoring and support.
- Use modular design approaches and/or agile software development techniques for a high quality, supportable software system.
- Mentor junior engineers as needed
- Maintain Secret Clearance. U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
- Work onsite at McKinney, TX [relocation eligible]
- Travel and support off-site facilities as needed.
Qualifications you must have:
- Minimum of 8 years professional experience in software design, development, integration and testing utilizing C / C++ or similar.
- Experience with real-time embedded microprocessor system development.
- Experience in RHL 8.0/above
- Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
- Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred).
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Experience with Docker Containerization.
- Experience with embedded system concepts such as preemptive, multitasking real-time OS.
- Possess skills to handle fast pace and dynamic product development environment including engagement with systems and electrical engineers.
- Experience working closely and directly with the customer.
- Advanced signal processing and simulation.

- Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.
The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
