Job Overview

Join our client's Engineering & Construction Business Unit as a Principal Engineer Substation and play a key role in advancing high-voltage substation projects. You will manage projects from conception through commissioning, ensuring compliance with industry standards while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional results.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of substation projects, from Early Stage to Execution.
• Collaborate with Project Managers to define engineering requirements during the conceptual phase.
• Provide technical oversight and ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (IEEE, NESC, ASCE, etc.).
• Secure engineering resources and evaluate external consultants for project support.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to develop substation sites and secure necessary permits.
• Source and manage vendors for geotechnical, survey, and construction services.
• Align project designs with interconnection agreements and ISO requirements.
• Manage procurement of long-lead materials to mitigate risks of delays and budget overruns.
• Support commissioning activities and regulatory processes as needed.

Skills and Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil/Structural Engineering preferred.
• At least 7+ years of experience in substation design and high-voltage engineering.
• Strong background in project engineering or project management.
• PMP or PE certification is a plus.
• Exceptional organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
• Willingness to travel within North America as required.
