We are currently looking for a hard-working and motivated individual to join our team as a Prep Cook. The Prep Cook helps prepare menu offerings by washing, chopping, cooking, and properly handling and storing food and will help with other duties such as cleaning.
The ideal candidate is a friendly and enthusiastic team player with the physical ability to perform all aspects of this job (repetitive movements, lifting, standing, bending, etc.). Some food service/prep experience is a plus, but not required. This is a great opportunity to get started in the food service industry, and we encourage you to apply now!
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Preps food as needed, including washing and chopping vegetables and labeling product with expiration dates, keeping food safety as a priority when completing all tasks
- Cleans work areas and all equipment used in food preparation
- Helps with other areas of the restaurant when needed
- Completes opening and/or closing checklists
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Ensures that work areas are clean and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored
- Stays up to date with menu as well as with current specials and promotions and can describe items to guests
- Takes orders and serves meals and beverages promptly and courteously
- Cleans work areas and all equipment used in food preparation
- Ensures a proper supply of clean dishware, utensils, and glassware to stock the dining areas and set tables
- Ensures a proper supply of clean pots, pans, and cooking/serving utensils are available for kitchen staff
- Follows safety and sanitation rules and practices
- Ensures that work areas are clean and that equipment, tools, and supplies are properly stored
- Ensures compliance with all applicable federal and state laws and all company policies
QUALIFICATIONS
- Food service experience is a plus
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Professional appearance and demeanor
- Knowledge of general sanitary and safety practices
- Must be able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
- Able to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Must have good communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with customers, co-workers, management, and others
- Point-of-sale (cash register) and credit or debit card processing skills
- Must have basic math skills and the ability to handle money accurately
- Must be pleasant, personable, and friendly
- Must exhibit a sense of urgency
- Safety-first mentality
- Able to bend, kneel, squat, stand, and lift heavy objects as needed
- Must be able to remain stationary for periods of up to four hours
