Duffy's Prep Cook Job Description
Reports to: Chef
Job Summary: Responsible for the preparation of ingredients and stations used in the cooking process, as well as maintaining the kitchen and ensuring it is clean and sanitized.
Major areas of responsibility:
•Cut or slice meat, poultry, and seafood to prepare for cooking.
•Wash, peel, and cut various foods, such as fruits and vegetables, to prepare for cooking or serving.
•Weigh, portion, and wrap food.
•Adhere to prep list assigned by Chef.
•Rotate food and print the time and date label for food in coolers.
•Clean and sanitize food preparation equipment, work areas, and counters or tables.
•Perform general cleaning activities in kitchen.
•Restock kitchen supplies.
•Store food in designated containers and storage areas to prevent spoilage.
•Stock storage areas and refrigerators.
•Carry food supplies, equipment, and utensils to and from storage and work areas.
•Remove trash and clean kitchen garbage containers.
•Inform supervisors when equipment is not working properly and when food and supplies are getting low, and order needed items.
•Assist other kitchen staff with various tasks as needed and provide with needed items.
•Use manual or electric appliances to clean, peel, slice, and trim foods.
•Sweep and mop kitchen floor.
•Maintain Food Handler's Certification.
•Maintain a positive and professional approach to coworkers and customers.
