POWER GENERATION MECHANIC II
POSITION SUMMARY:
Lead efforts to ensure continuous prime power operations through preventative maintenance, emergency repairs, and major overhauls of gensets, engines, alternators, switchgears, and electrical distribution systems on our Military Installation in Kwajalein Atoll, Republic of the Marshall Islands.
TOTAL COMPENSATION: $109-119K
LOCATION: Kwajalein Atoll, Republic of the Marshall Islands
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain, repair, operate, and troubleshoot Genset systems (fuel, induction, cooling, controls, exhaust, engine internal & peripheral) ranging from 15Kw to 2Mw
- Take corrective actions to correct emergency/unscheduled outages
- Troubleshoot/repair/rebuild/overhaul Gensets, powered support systems, vehicles, and other components (e.g., alternators, gears, compressors, and hydraulic, pneumatic, electric components (12/24VDC)).
- Assist in the control and distribution of the mechanical and electrical makeup and operation of powered support systems such as those described above.
- Troubleshoot and repair diesel, gasoline, and/or multi-fuel engines
- Perform Preventative Maintenance Checks & Services on equipment.
- Perform isolation procedures before working on de-energized High Voltage Networks or Switchgears.
- Assist with daily Powerplant or Spot Gen operations to include bringing online/offline gensets, synchronizing/paralleling gensets, taking hourly generator readings, fueling in powerplant environment, electrical distribution installation/maintenance, facility maintenance, housekeeping, etc.
- Assist Prime Contractor with procurement/materials staff with acquiring repair parts/consumables.
- Ensure power generator staff is performing service/maintenance/repairs IAW U.S. Military, Prime Contractor, Host Nation, and Environmental/Hazmat policies and procedures
- Attend Electrical Health & Safety training and establish a status of CP (Competent Person), AP (Authorized Person) or SAP (Senior Authorized Person)
- Run oil samples/analysis and take appropriate actions
- Other assigned duties
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have computer skills and be able to operate a variety of computer programs.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English fluently
- Possess a valid US Passport with validity for 12 months from on-site employment date. Must have at least six blank pages prior to OCONUS mobilization.
- Must satisfy the USARPAC Force Health Protection Guidance medical requirements and earn a Medically Qualified rating.
- Must be CAC eligible and able to gain entry onto U.S. military installations.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCES/CERTIFICATIONS:
- 4+ years as (Lead) Generator Mechanic
- Medium to large scale operation, maintenance, and complete overhaul of prime power diesel gensets (50-60 liter engines)
- Caterpillar Mech II Mechanic Certification OR equivalent
- Caterpillar Engine Certification/s for 3508, 3606, C28012/16, 3616 Caterpillar engines
- CAT ET application and ECM calibration reflash/programming
ADDITIONAL REQUIRED EXPERIENCES:
- Ability to read and use technical manuals, illustrations, diagrams, schematics, and similar guides covering the complete assembly, troubleshooting, and layout of power generators and/or support systems
- Working in international work environments with expatriate or U.S. Military
- A thorough knowledge of the mechanical and electrical makeup and operation of powered support systems such as those described above, including their major mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components including: Standard Diesel generators, Controls to include genset synchronizing and paralleling, genset communication/monitoring systems such as PULSE SCADA and Switchgear
- Experience in providing prime power O&M Services to clients
- Hands-on inspect, test, and repair components of electrical systems to include generators, transformers, transfer switches, switch gear, PLC controls, and fuel monitoring and delivery systems.
- Lockout/Tagout Procedures
- Specific understanding and knowledge of power generation equipment startup and shutdown and basic equipment maintenance procedures as they relate to the power generation equipment and/or auxiliary operator
- Must have knowledge of use and proper application of PPE
