Job Overview
A large metal manufacturing company seeks a Power Engineer (Electrical Engineer) responsible for the reliability and sustainability of equipment at its Pittsburgh location. This role focuses on leading process and product improvement efforts, supporting manufacturing and maintenance operations, troubleshooting technical issues, and managing capital and non-capital projects. This position is essential in maintaining equipment reliability and optimizing production processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Reliability & Maintenance: Analyze equipment failure data, conduct root cause analysis, and implement countermeasures to maximize equipment uptime.
- Project Management: Lead and manage capital and non-capital projects, including equipment upgrades and installation, using standard project management practices.
- Process Improvement: Develop and implement maintenance procedures, optimize preventive maintenance strategies, and identify technology improvements to enhance equipment performance.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work with other departments to integrate reliability into processes, manage project timelines, and communicate expectations to team members.
- Data Analysis & Experimental Evaluation: Improve equipment reliability and operation by analyzing data, conducting capability studies, and facilitating continuous improvement initiatives.
- Safety & Compliance: Ensure safety procedures are adhered to during manufacturing processes and incorporate safety into all departmental activities.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 7-10 years in a manufacturing environment, with experience in project management, equipment installation, and preventive maintenance.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Excel, Word, and Access; strong analytical and communication skills.
- Preferred Knowledge: Familiarity with project management fundamentals (scope, design review, budgeting) and Lean Manufacturing principles. Knowledge of the FEL process is a plus.
- Skills: Ability to lead root cause analysis (8-D, 5-Why), design countermeasures, and effectively communicate and delegate within cross-functional teams.
