The City of Pearland, TX is seeking to hire a full-time Plant Mechanic to lead and improve aspects of the day-to-day operations of our Engineering & Public Works department. Are you results-oriented? Could you excel in a fast-paced environment? If so, you may be perfect for this position!
The Plant Mechanic earns a competitive salary of $19.49-21.10/hour based on qualifications. A DAY IN THE LIFE AS THE PLANT MECHANIC
- Daily, inspects all plant equipment and maintains a log of inspections.
- Maintains, repairs, and replaces water treatment plant valves, motors, pumps, chemical feeders, chemical storage and sludge handling equipment, mixers, basins and associated parts and hardware.
- Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: changing oil, greasing bearings, removing debris from the raw water intake, and assisting operators with cleaning basins.
- Trouble-shoots mechanical malfunctions. Conducts regularly scheduled preventive maintenance on plant equipment.
- Generates requests for parts and equipment needed to carry out repairs and maintenance and other approved projects.
- Coordinates with outside contractors, engineers, and vendors on maintenance projects.
REQUIREMENTS
- Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent supplemented by specialized courses/training experience in the water industry or related field.
- Three (3) years experience in fundamentals of pump and motor repair or closely related experience. Desired experience includes welding or facilities maintenance certifications. Experience with membrane filters is preferred.
