Plant Environmental and Safety Technician at Clopay Corporation

Our company currently has an exciting opportunity for a Plant Environmental and Safety Technician at our Troy, Ohio location.

1. Purpose: Assist the EH&S Supervisor and Safety Manager in implementing and maintaining a comprehensive safety and environmental program to ensure compliance with State and Federal safety and environmental regulations at Troy and Russia facilities. The programs will include spill prevention, waste, air compliance, HazCom, audits, and general plant safety and Hazmat issues. Provide support to employees in these programs as requested and required.
2. Dimensions: The programs will include, but are not limited to, Spill Prevention, Waste, Air Compliance, HazCom, Audits, General Plant Safety, and Hazmat issues. Provide support to employees in these programs as requested and required.

• Responsibilities/Principal Duties:
• Daily, weekly, and monthly EPA-required inspections and company-required inspections.
• Maintain logbooks and records of inspections.
• Be a first responder
• Data entry and weekly reports of air data related to permits.
• Movement of drums in plants and associated labeling.
• Manifest filing, tracking, and spreadsheets.
• SDS submission for entry into Sitehawk database and maintenance.
• Assist in routine spill cleanup.
• Sampling for compliance in Environmental and Safety compliance or investigations.
• Stock/Order/Manage supplies including spill equipment.
• Assist in auditing and maintaining labels and general HazCom requirements in the plant.
• Safety reports.
• STOP Program Administrator
• Maintain Safety Records of training.
• Coordinate and maintain information and reports dealing with facility safety, safety programs, and Safety/Environmental committee programs.
• Present safety training to new hire classes.
• Lead classroom forklift training. Schedule the seat testing.
• Forklift license administration
• Assist the group in accident identification and prevention programs.
• Other Safety and Environmental support as requested by the EHS Specialist.

Qualifications:

1. Education: Two-year college degree or equivalent experience plus education. HAWOPER 8 hours. 24 to 40 certification preferred.
2. Experience: 1 to 2 years experience in safety, or environmental compliance.
3. Ability to use Outlook, and Microsoft Office. Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills. Experience with Access, Visio, and Adobe is needed. Familiarity with Oracle is a plus.
4. Proven ability to speak in front of large groups for training, meetings, and general presentations.
