Education and Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university, with five to seven years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Direct supervision of three employees in the accounting section, in accordance with policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential Purpose of this Position:
Supervises and coordinates the activities of workers engaged in calculating, posting, and verifying financial data to maintain accounting and statistical records, as well as applying principles of cost information not available in the general accounting system.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collect and analyze data to determine the cost of business activities such as raw material purchases, material usage variances, labor, and variable overhead.
- Complete composite reports from various individual reports needed by management, such as weekly cash flow forecasts, monthly capital forecasts, and monthly financial reporting.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets for each cost center of the plant.
- Prepare monthly work-in-process (WIP) inventory, and coordinate and direct routine cycle counts of WIP.
- Issue written and oral instructions.
- Assign duties and review work for exactness, neatness, and conformance to policies and procedures.
- Study and standardize procedures to improve employee efficiency.
- Maintain harmony among workers and resolve complaints.
Skills, Experience and Abilities Required:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and employees.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Prior experience in manufactuing/plant environment
Physical Demands:
- Regularly required to sit; occasionally required to walk; use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
- Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
