The Academic General Pediatric Practice (AGP) at Helen DeVos Childrens Hospital (HDVCH) is recruiting for a Section Chief physician to lead our team. The section chief will join 7 other like-minded academic pediatricians and help shape innovative and equitable primary pediatric care and education at HDVCH. AGP is the primary continuity site for 80+ residents (includes categorical pediatrics, medicine-pediatric and child neurology residents) and cares for a diverse population of patients from metropolitan Grand Rapids.?
Candidates for the position must enjoyleadership and mentoring preferably with previous clinical experience. The new section chief will be supported by active pediatric residency core faculty members and assistant program directors who are amongst the physician team at AGP. The section chief will receive administrative time to guide quality, educational and business outcomes for the practice.In addition to administrative efforts, the new section chief will spend approximately 50% of their clinical time precepting residents and 50% of their clinical time providing care to their own panel of pediatric patients.
There is also an opportunity to join a smaller cohort of AGP physicians who will be partnering with HDVCH pediatric psychology in their multidisciplinary autism assessment center.The new chiefwill obtain MSU faculty appointment commensurate with academic goals and experiences and can anticipate access to support for academic, quality and scholarly projects. ?
Practice Description:?The Corewell Health HDVCH Academic General Pediatric Clinic (AGP) is a full service pediatric primary care medical home, providing well child and acute care as well as management of chronic and complex medical conditions for patients from birth to 21 years.The physicians are committed to providing evidenced-based, compassionate, comprehensive pediatric medical care and educational services.The practice is supported by two social workers, RN phone triage, a nurse educator and an excellent team of medical assistants. In January, 2025, the practice will be moving to a brand new academic primary care center just across the street at 225 Michigan where we will be co-located with the family medicine and internal medicine residency practices.The brand new building represents Corewell Healths commitment to their primary care and academic mission. Our practice is fully integrated into the functions of the childrens hospital and we enjoy collegial relationships with the 40+ specialties located on campus.
Basic Qualifications:
Education - Medical Degree (MD or DO) Licenses
License
- Current M.D. or D.O. license for the state of Michigan
- Current State of Michigan and Federal Narcotics Licenses
Certification - Basic Life Support (BLS)
