Our Orthopaedic Physician Assistant will provide continuous and comprehensive healthcare services necessary for the promotion of optimal orthopedic health, prevention and treatment of orthopedic conditions to adolescents and adults. This includes the assessment, diagnosis, and management of orthopedic disorders. In this role, you would collaborate with others in the department to assure smooth flow of exceptional patient care.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Practices under protocol established for the Physician Assistant role consistent with organization policy and in accordance with requirement set forth by the Mississippi Board of Nursing.
- Conducts age-appropriate assessments of patients, including taking medical history and physical examination. Reviews medical record for follow up or ordering of diagnostic studies according to established protocols.
- Consults with supervising physician or other clinicians as dictated by patient need and assessment findings.
- Participates with physicians and other clinicians in the department to assure operational efficiency and effectiveness and to promote consistency and continuity of care.
- Establishes effective working relationships with members of the clinical team, patients, and families.
- Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties/activities of clinical team members.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Master of Science in Nursing or Master of Physician Assistant Studies
- Current license to practice Nursing in the state of MS.
- Current license to practice as an Advanced Practice Nurse in the state of MS.
- Current prescriptive authority in the State of MS.
- 3+ years' experience as a Physician Assistant.
- Experience in orthopedics or musculoskeletal specialty is REQUIRED, with a focus general orthopaedic and hand care.

- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to work independently within interpretive guidelines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced and constantly changing environment.
