Position Summary:
The Physician Assistant serves as an essential member of the patient care team responsible for delivering direct and indirect care utilizing the PA/NP scope of practice. The PA or NP will be responsible for assessing health status, developing and executing interventions collaboratively with the clinical team evaluating patient responses. Duties may be delegated according to the education and practice standard of the team member. A Maine Urgent Care Medical Director be available to assist and/or supervise the Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner in patient evaluation and management. The PA or NP practices in accordance with CMHs Policies and Procedures and HIPAA.
Essential Duties:
1. Serves as the champion of the patient experience
2. Engages patients utilizing exceptional customer service practices in alignment with the
Five Must Haves;

3. Perform physical examinations on Adult patients to include patients medical, family, and social history
4. Documents all patient visits in electronic medical record in a timely manner
5. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors
6. Interprets subjective and objective data to formulate a diagnosis
7. Formulates treatment plans within the providers scope of practice
8. Implements therapeutic interventions when appropriate
9. Orders and interprets appropriate diagnostic laboratory tests, EKGs and radiological studies
10. Enters all orders for treatments and medications to be administered
11. Prescribes pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions
12. Provides patient education and counseling regarding disease processes, test results, discharge planning, and preventative healthcare
13. Makes appropriate referrals to other health professionals and community agencies
14. Participates in the quality improvement process to include review of records and treatment plans
15. Able to perform all services within the Maine Urgent Care scope of services
16. Upholds MUC and CMH Policies and Procedures
17. Upholds Urgent Care Association (UCA) regulatory requirements
Education and Experience:
1. Unencumbered license to practice as PA or NP in the state of Maine
2. PA must be a graduate of an accredited physician assistant program; NCCPA certified
3. NP must be a graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
4. PA must complete 100 hours of CME every two (2) years and take the recertification exam every six (6) years
5. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS Certification required
6. Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider ACLS preferred
7. Experience in Occupational Health preferred
8. DOT Medical Exam Certification required within 6 months of hire
9. Experience in emergency department or urgent care setting preferred

1. Experience and proficiency in interpreting x-rays
2. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skill and ability
3. Ability to prioritize patients by level of acuity
4. Ability to establish and maintain effective patient relationships
5. Ability to establish and maintain effective physician and co-workers relationships
6. Exceptional verbal and written communication
7. Experience working both independently and in team based environments
8. Must demonstrate reliability and accountability to team members and patients
9. Proficient with computer skills including use of various electronic medical records
10. Ability to work under pressure with precision and accuracy and to handle multiple projects simultaneously
