Job Overview
Howard Technology Solutions is looking for a highly qualified Physical Security Pre Sales Engineer to provide pre-sales and post-sale support. This position demands expertise in IP security camera, Access Control, Intrusion Detection, Environmental Sensing, Visitor Management, and Mass Notification installations, as well as routine maintenance and troubleshooting. This engineer will be able to talk to an audience of varying levels of technical knowledge to convey proposed products and services to assist them with their technological needs.
The ideal candidate will also possess the ability to function within a team environment and must possess strong inter-personnel skills. This position will encompass remote customer support, traveling to meet with new potential customers and onsite installations as needed. The ability to communicate with our customers and our sales team to manage new and existing customer projects.
Responsibilities and Duties
Client Consultation:
- Understand clients’ needs and physical security posture and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Communicate complex physical security topics effectively to both technical and non-technical personnel.
Pre-Sales Support:
- Collaborate with the sales team to scope and design physical security solutions for potential customers.
- Create and present technical proposals, Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Statements of Work (SOW).
Solution Delivery
- Oversee the CCTV, Access Control, Mass Emergency Notification and Visitor Management systems across multiple sites.
- Lead the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of vital physical security systems.
- Collaborate with the Security and Technology Departments to define system requirements and select optimal products.
Vendor and Project Management
- Research, evaluate, and acquire security hardware and software, ensuring the best-fit for our operations.
- Effectively communicate design concepts, recommendations, and project overviews to stakeholders.
- Oversee vendors and contractors, ensuring top-notch service and alignment with our security needs.
- Handle routine testing and performance reviews of systems, ensuring their reliability and compliance with requirements.
Operations and Maintenance
- Act as a primary point of contact for resolving system issues, ensuring minimal operational disruption.
- Ensure system reliability by implementing a comprehensive maintenance program, targeting near-perfect uptime.
- Document all system configurations, processes, and maintenance activities in a clear and precise manner.
- Offer hands-on expertise in areas such as CCTV surveillance, intrusion detection, access control systems, and security center integration.
- Knowledge of OSHA general safety standards and the proper care and usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- Flexibility to work beyond regular working hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., depending on customer commitments.

- Contribute insights or gather information for budgeting activities as required.
Qualifications
- Ability to design, build, and maintain physical security systems.
- Ability to pro-actively identify and resolve system configuration issues.
- Relevant industry certifications are a plus.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in managing complex physical security programs.
- Knowledge of security system architectures, certifications, physical/electronic detection, high availability concepts, and code writing for integration.
- Proficiency in Office Productivity tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and Project).
- Work remotely and travel to projects nationwide.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential.
