Description
The Phlebotomist is responsible for performing blood collection activities for the purpose of health assessment in the Pathology department. The Phlebotomist also performs all activities, pre-analytic functions, and data management under the direction of a California Licensed Supervisor as defined in Chapter 3 of State of California Business and Professions Code. Provides customer service communication via phone and face to face. Ensures that equipment and safety devices are used appropriately following set guidelines. Performs venipuncture, heel stick and finger stick specimen collection activities from pediatrics, neonatal, and adult population following appropriate procedure and protocol for health assessment.
Hours: 5am- 1:30pm

Performs venipuncture, heel stick and finger stick specimen collection activities from pediatrics, neonatal, and adult population following appropriate procedure and protocol for health assessment.
- Following appropriate procedures and protocols, performs whole blood collection activities for the purpose of laboratory testing and health assessment.
- Performs analytic functions where allowed by California Law.
- Performs venipuncture and finger stick specimen collection activities from adult, pediatric, and/or neonatal patient population for the purpose of health assessment.
- Ensures that equipment and safety devices are used appropriately following set guidelines.
- Performs data management activities and documentation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- 2+ years of previous experience performing venipuncture on hospital based patient pediatric populations is required.
- Knowledge of specimen collection techniques, equipment, and specimen handling is required
- Infant Heel stick experience preferred
- Current California Phlebotomy Certificate is required
