Pharmacy Tech 1 PRN (Day Shift M-F) – Community Care Clinics (Ambulatory)
This unique pharmacy technician position will serve as a Prescription Assistance Program (PAP) Advocate. Duties include assisting with program management and serving as the point of contact between patients, internal staff, external programs, and pharmaceutical companies. This role will support multiple clinics and will require traveling to various Community Care Clinic locations in the DFW Metroplex (Dallas, Ft Worth, Irving & Plano). Therefore, the ability and willingness to travel to all locations, have a valid driver's license, and reliable transportation are essential. The organization does provide mileage reimbursement for travel outside of your normal assigned work location. A bilingual candidate would be ideal, as over 80% of the patients served in our clinics speak Spanish.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
1. Application Assistance :
2. Coordinate and assist uninsured, underinsured, and indigent patients with the submission of applications for prescription assistance programs offered by pharmaceutical manufacturers. Advocate will ensure applications are completed accurately and in their entirety for all necessary information and signatures.
3. Analyze eligibility criteria and enrollment requirements, reviewing information for pharmaceutical companies to enroll patients in prescription assistance programs.
4. Data Management :
5. Input and track data regarding the status of applications using the Epic EMR and MedData software.
6. Generate refill reports and order medication refills promptly.
7. Patient Communication :
8. Communicate with patients about the status of their applications and medication arrival.
9. Provide updates and address any patient inquiries.
10. Medication Handling :
11. Receive, check-in, document, and update medication records in the system.
12. Assist with the patient pickup process for medications.
13. Point of Contact :
14. Serve as the primary point of contact for patients, internal staff, providers, and external sponsors regarding program details and application status.
15. Compliance :
16. Perform duties as directed and follow BSWH policies and procedures.
17. Ensure medication names, dosages, and quantities match Epic EMR for accuracy.
18. Control drug inventory, maintain accurate records of drug disposal through the inventory management system, and maintain current drug information.
19. Maintain accurate temperature logs for refrigerators and freezers.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Basic knowledge of Pharmacy Care modalities, terminology, pharmaceutical calculations, terminology, drug use and aseptic techniques, standards and equipment.
Knowledge of procedures and standards for the labeling and dispensing of prescription medications.
Must be able to read, write and follow instructions and flow chart protocols.
Ability to sort, check, count and verify numbers.
Ability to follow established safety, infection control, environmental and isolation practices and procedures at all times.
Excellent social skills required to interact effectively with patients and staff.
General computer skills, including but not limited to: using required software applications, data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning and email.

- EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
- EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
 Pharmacy Technician (PHT), Pharmacy Intern (RPH-INT): Must have one of the following issued by the TX Board of Pharmacy:
Pharmacy Tech (PHT) license
Pharmacy Tech (PHT) intern license.
