The Pharmacy Technician, Non-Sterile Compounding, is a crucial role within Empower Pharmacy that ensures the precise preparation of medications, directly aligning with our values of people, service, quality, and innovation. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately weighing, measuring, mixing, and compounding active pharmaceutical ingredients and excipients. You will adhere to personal hygiene and garbing standards, utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in accordance with United States Pharmacopeia (USP) regulations, specifically USP 795 and USP 800, when working in non-sterile hazardous and non-hazardous labs. Your duties will include visually inspecting and packaging finished goods, ensuring they are transferred into properly labeled and approved containers, and maintaining compliance with the company’s quality system.
Beyond compounding, you will play an active role in maintaining lab supplies, preparing batch mixtures, and participating in safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives. Your collaboration with pharmacists and pharmacy managers in monitoring drug inventories and preparing orders will ensure that our operations run smoothly and that our products consistently meet the high standards our patients rely on. - Weighs, measures, mixes and compounds active pharmaceutical ingredients and excipients to ensure finished Compounded Nonsterile Preparation dosage forms such as creams, gels, capsules, and troches meet internal and external specifications.
- Adheres to personal hygiene, garbing and PPE standards per USP regulations when working inside of the nonsterile hazardous and nonhazardous labs.
- Visually inspects, packages and transfers finished goods into properly labeled and approved containers.
- Compounds, cleans, and sanitizes equipment and completes all required documentation to maintain compliance with USP 795, USP 800 and the company's Quality System.
- Prepares label, prepackaged and unit dose drugs in accordance with the dispensing order.
- Prepares and generates batch for preparation of non-sterile mixtures.
- Maintains lab supply inventory and submits warehouse requisitions for lab supplies.
- Restocks lab and adjacent areas with PPE, supplies, devices, and any additional equipment needed to perform required tasks.
- Participates with the pharmacist and pharmacy manager in monitoring/maintaining drug inventories and preparing orders for drugs and related supplies.
- Participates in department safety, quality, production, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Performs other duties, as assigned.
While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to remain in a standing position for a significant amount of the workday and frequently use their hands and fingers to handle or feel in order to access, input, and retrieve information from the computer and other office productivity devices. The employee is regularly required to move about the office and around the corporate campus. The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Employee must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Knowledge and Skills:- Able to complete internal training and demonstrate knowledge and competency of compounding nonsterile preparations in a hazardous and nonhazardous lab environment.
- Ability to perform rudimentary mathematical calculations related to compounding or manufacturing processes.

- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working as a compounding pharmacy technician preferred.
- Registered with the Texas Board of Pharmacy as a Certified Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician trainee and currently in good standing.
