DIS Health is seeking inventory specialists to support the operations of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Consolidated Mail Outpatient Pharmacy (CMOP). This role is crucial in managing and maintaining accurate inventory levels to ensure efficient pharmacy operations and timely delivery of medications to Veterans.
The ideal candidate will have a desire and ambition to provide the best-in-class service and support for Veterans and DIS team members.
Essential Duties of the Inventory Specialists include:
- Onsite Shift: 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM Monday through Friday; and 3:00, PM - 11:30 PM Monday through Friday
- Perform tasks related to the movement, restocking, and accounting of pharmaceutical items stored in various locations
- Compile and maintain accurate inventory records
- Identify types of supplies and suggest re-order points for revolving stock
- Maintain inventories of drugs and supplies, stocking shelves, rotating stock, and checking expiration dates of pharmaceuticals
- Fill and stock medications in various automated devices and storage locations
- Operate various types of pharmacy automation, including but not limited to Autofill devices, Baker Cells, Kalish cells, A-frames, repackaging equipment, and electronic scales
- Read computer screens, use scanning equipment, and select specific drugs/products required to fill orders by name, strength, and National Drug Code (NDC) number
- Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards for pharmaceutical inventory management
- Collaborate with pharmacy staff to maintain optimal inventory levels and prevent stockouts
- Participate in regular inventory audits and reconciliations
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) required
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in inventory management, preferably in a healthcare or pharmaceutical setting
- Strong understanding of inventory management principles and practices
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Proficiency in using computer systems and inventory management software
- Typing proficiency - minimum 45 words per minute
- Attention to detail and high degree of accuracy
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred but NOT Required Qualifications:
- Experience working for a federal or public agency
