Pediatric Hospitalist Full time Newark NJ - RWJBarnabas Health
Newark, NJ 07112
About the Job
At Childrens Hospital of New Jersey at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, we are driven to provide evidence-based care to the communities we serve. We are transforming the care delivery system with a design focused on eliminating health disparities and improving outcomes for patients in our community and beyond.
We are seeking a board-certified/board eligible pediatric hospitalist. Fellowship training and or board certification in pediatric hospital medicine desirable. As a member of an academic health system for children, the faculty member will be involved in further developing the inpatient curriculum and serving as a teacher and mentor to pediatric residents and medical students.
The hospitalist position at CHoNJ involves care of patients in the general pediatric unit, the newborn nursery and a minor role in the admission of children to the inpatient behavioral health unit.
Hospitalists function primarily as the supervising faculty member for pediatric medical students and residents on the inpatient services, with a small role in delivering care without resident involvement.
The hospitalist role involves teaching, with opportunities to lead morning report, participate in resident didactics, board preparation and grand rounds, as well as participation and leadership in quality improvement opportunities.
When on the inpatient service, the hospitalists spend approximately 8-10 hours in the hospital and are on-call from home for admissions and problems. The on call hospitalist rarely if ever is required to return to the hospital at night.
When covering the newborn nursery, the hospitalist spends approximately 8 hours per day in the hospital, with no on call burden.
An integral member of RWJBarnabas Health, the largest academic integrated healthcare system in New Jersey, Childrens Hospital of New Jersey is partnered with Rutgers NJMS, offering exceptional patient care and leading-edge research, further advancing our mission.
