The Payroll Manager is at the heart of a seamless and efficient payroll operation across multiple campuses. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the timely and accurate preparation, distribution, and reporting of payroll, ensuring the precise calculation of wages, overtime, taxes, and deductions in full compliance with all federal and state regulations. As a key leader, you will guide and support the Payroll Specialist while overseeing a dedicated team responsible for recording work hours, processing time records, compiling payroll data, and maintaining critical payroll control records. - Payroll Processing: Manage and ensure accurate and timely payroll, including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and deductions.
- Time and Attendance: Oversee the time and attendance system, train timekeepers, and ensure time records are accurate and approved.
- Special Payments: Review and process special payment requests in line with company policies.
- Compliance: Stay up to date with payroll regulations and ensure all payment and reporting deadlines are met.
- Reporting: Coordinate with the payroll tax company for required government and employment reports, including IRS 941, state filings, and W-2s.
- HR Coordination: Work with HR to ensure correct application of payroll-related policies.
- Training and Guidance: Provide training on payroll processes and policies, and cross-train staff to ensure backup capabilities.
- Required: At least 5 years of experience as a Payroll Manager.
- Preferred: Experience in higher education or nonprofit organizations; expertise with Ellucian Banner; familiarity with Kronos timekeeping.
- Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: Certified Payroll Manager (CPM) or Certified Payroll Professional (CPP); membership in PayrollOrg.
