Job Title: Payroll Manager
Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to oversee the payroll process for a client in the manufacturing industry. This role will be responsible for managing payroll for approximately 600 employees using ADP Workforce Now (WFN). The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of payroll processing, compliance with federal and state regulations, and a proven ability to lead a payroll team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Payroll Processing: Manage and oversee the timely and accurate processing of payroll for 600 employees, including salaried, hourly, and union workers.
- ADP WFN Management: Utilize ADP Workforce Now to process payroll, update employee records, ensure proper deductions, and maintain accurate payroll data.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws, labor laws, and union agreements, including managing garnishments, benefits deductions, and tax withholdings.
- Reporting & Reconciliation: Prepare payroll reports, including general ledger entries, tax filings, and year-end reports (W-2s, 1099s, etc.). Reconcile payroll accounts, resolve discrepancies, and ensure payroll is balanced.
- Audit & Controls: Establish and maintain payroll controls, perform regular audits to ensure accuracy, and implement processes to reduce errors and identify any discrepancies.
- Employee Inquiries: Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related questions from employees, HR, and management, and provide excellent customer service regarding pay, benefits, deductions, and taxes.
- Team Management: Supervise and mentor a team of payroll clerks or assistants, ensuring adherence to processes, deadlines, and maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency.
- Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate payroll processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and compliance.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date payroll records, including employee pay history, tax filings, and benefit deductions.
- Year-End Close: Oversee the preparation and processing of year-end payroll activities, including W-2s, 1099s, and other year-end reports.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll management, preferably within the manufacturing industry. Experience with ADP Workforce Now (WFN) is required.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of payroll laws and regulations, tax compliance, and labor laws.
- Skills:
- Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
